Trail highlight! You can access Woodend Nature Center in Montgomery County from the Rock Creek trail. A very nice ride from DC, or you can connect using the M70 bus!
New Capital Crescent trail crossing Rock Creek along with the Purple Line! This was targeted for completion by Spring-Summer of 2026, but it doesn’t look finished yet.
Internal pedestrian connections are so good for larger developments! Ped/bike path near Spring St, Silver Spring.
Catenary poles (for overhead wire power) were recently installed for the Purple Line near Silver Spring!
Platform upgrades at New Carrollton seem to be progressing! My train this morning used the whole platform!
New ride summary on Transit App. Very cool to see average and max speeds! The the max is a bit glitchy in this case as Metro tops out at 70 mph.
Didn’t feel like navigating the interim trail from Silver Spring to Bethesda, so I just used the M70. The M70 was really busy this morning!
Better weather=perfect time for the Capital Crescent, Bethesda-Georgetown! Get out and bike!
Ridership data from the Red Line shutdown is now available. Friendship Heights is seeing 16-17K boardings with 10-11K coming from shuttle riders (5-6K boarding normally). On the other side, Glenmont has seen a jump of ~1K and a small increase of a few hundred at Wheaton.
I picked up the new metro water bottle! You fill in the stickers as you visit new stations. A fun way to explore more!
Yesterday was the last day of Metro’s 50th anniversary pop up shop. I couldn’t miss it! It was great to see so many visitors!
Love to see the Metro represented at Nationals Park! One of the great ballpark train connections in the US!
Spotted a new Metro Access (paratransit) vehicle in Silver Spring. The door height matches the curb well.
Bethesda Purple Line station has catenary wire installed! This station will be super convenient for getting to Bethesda row and offices on the south side of Bethesda.
Washington-Baltimore when Amtrak runs express. 32 minutes averaging 76 mph. The new tunnel should speed this up quite a bit as the slowest parts leaving Washington and entering Baltimore.
New CaBi bike share station in Silver Spring at Georgia and Spring St (near Mom’s). Nice with the Spring st bike lane right there (tho biking on Georgia is jot really a thing).
The Purple Line seems to have these little railroad crossing signs to warn people in the stations. Does any other light rail have these for pedestrians/riders?
I didn’t bike on this trip, but I do really appreciate that Pittsburgh has kept its bike share system! Bike share is a really valuable option for so many trips!
Unfortunately it’s not hard to believe a neighbor was recently killed hear on Orleans st. The traffic is moving so fast and drivers frequently dart between land and even across the sidewalk.

I rode quite a few buses too. The MLK busway is super useful, but I find the service patterns just okay. Perhaps too commuter focused?
Some fun scenes from Pittsburgh this weekend! The inclines are great and the PRT might be America’s quirkiest light rail! I love the view from Steel Plaza Station downtown!

Pictures from Purple Line work at Silver Spring last weekend. They were taking down the extra walkway on the giant flyover! Crews used the metro tracks for part of this.
