Starring Springfield
@starspringpod
Starring Springfield is a podcast that reviews movies that star the cast members of The Simpsons. Each week Elliot & BT review a movie hand picked from the heroes over at patreon.com/sidequeststudios
Out now on the podcast, we review "Spaceballs" starring Phil Hartman & Tress MacNeille. We reviewed the Harry Shearer classic Star Wars many moons ago, but how does this parody hold up? Really well but still, tune into the podcast to find out...!!
Out now on the podcast, we review the James L. Brooks classic "Terms Of Endearment" which stars Albert Brooks off screen in the opening scene of the movie, then he's dead in the following scene. Good thing that the rest of the movie is pretty dang great!
#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched The variety of films we get to watch for this project is so chaotic. I love it.
Out now on the podcast, we review a sequel 4 decades plus 1 year in the making; Spinal Tap 2: The End Continues Of course, starring Harry Shearer as Derek Smalls. It was great to see him get a lot more material here than in the original film. Check out our pod now wherever you check out pods!
Seems like a lot of folks have been talking about “Now And Then” since it was added to a certain streaming service. Turns out it was a much loved movie for a lot of you We only just watched it for the 1st time b/c it stars Hank Azaria as Bud (not bug, Bud) & you can hear our review on our pod :)
#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched Kinda screwed up and watched a non Simpsons star movie this week but, good thing that Hunchback is still a good flick :)
Well, it took 89 episodes but we did it. We stuffed up and reviewed a movie that might not star someone from The Simpsons :O Check out the latest pod to hear how we got duped, and then how we attempt to talk about this surprisingly tricky movie!
People are sleeping on this movie. Every single actor in this thing is bringing it. Not just our boy Joe Mantegna, but also Sandler, Buscemi, Michael McKean, Brendan Frasier, Chris Farley, Dave Arquette, freaking Kramer & Lemmy are in this thing!! Go check it out & listen to our pod & watch it again
A lovely way to get out of our current not hot streak. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched
The third installment of the Ghoulies franchise is half horror movie, half college frat movie and a total piece of shit! We had so much fun reviewing this trash and Marcia Wallace gets a really funny scene in it. Check out our podcast review now on Starring Springfield 💛
What the hell is Animalympics? Tune into the Starring Springfield podcast as Elliot & BT lose their minds trying to answer that very question. pod.link/1773418376
After 15 years away from writing/directing movies, James L Brooks made his long awaited return w/ Ella McCay Our Simpsons stars are great in it, especially wonderful to see Julie in a movie for the 1st time since Click So how was it? Well, listen to our podcast to find out. But in a word? Yeesh.
It’s very funny that for Dan Castellaneta, a man who is an absurdly successful voice actor, is completely silent in this movie. Also funny, he’s listening to Danny DeVito, the man who would play Homer’s brother Herb in The Simpsons. Anyway, this movie is weird, check out our podcast review now!
“Anastasia” is an utterly gorgeous piece of animation. Originally made by 20th Century Fox, it may not have the strong songs and story of it’s Disney contemporaries, it absolutely makes up in the visuals and also the voice acting. Absolutely top notch performances by Hank Azaria and Kelsey Grammer.
We’ve reviewed 81 movies that star a cast member of The Simpsons!
Good grief Broadcast News is excellent. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched boxd.it/bSU1n
Among the best movies we’ve reviewed for the podcast. I won’t attempt to bury the lead here; Broadcast News is great and Albert Brooks delivers an incredible performance. Open your podcast app now and go to Starring Springfield to hear us gush about it!
Pretty wild to think that Bart Simpson was the “whyyyyyy?” kid in Animaniacs and that Agnus Skinner is the Warner sister Dot! But thank the non-denominational holiday entity that they are, cause it means we get to review the straight to video movie “Wakko’s Wish” for the podcast!!
#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched It’s always fun when we review a movie that none of our letterboxd mutuals have watched, even when the movie itself isn’t fun.
Julie Kavner’s first ever film role was in National Lampoon’s Movie Madness and our podcast review is out now! It’ll also be the only National Lampoon’s movie we review as it’s the only one that stars a Simpsons cast member. So how did we like this movie? Tune in to find out!
Last 3 weeks have given us 3 comedy films that range from good to excellent. Then there’s Gordy.. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched
This movie is nowhere near as bad as the aggregates would suggest. It’s not amazing by any stretch but it’s a solid, fun comedy and Hank Azaria gets the funniest lines out of the whole cast. Check out our review on all podcast apps or engraved in stone tablets!
I realised after making the pod-logos for April that will bring us up to 81 episodes which of course is a 9x9 square so here! Spoilers for April!
This week on the podcast we review “Mascots” which is another Christopher Guest movie, another voice-only appearance by Harry Shearer and another very fun time :)
