I love looking at foreign movie posters, and Poland has some of the best. Below is one of my favorites. Enjoy the link: sabukaru.online/articles/the...
Something to ABSOLUTELY NOT MISS! A magnificent film with an incredible performance by Maggie Cheung! A 4K digital restoration will open in theaters beginning August 7, 2026. #filmsky #CenterStage #StanleyKwan
Just saw James Cagney's screen debut, SINNERS' HOLIDAY (1930), based on the hit play "Penny Arcade" in which he starred w/Joan Blondell (also in the film). Proof that WC Fields did not coin the phrase "Never give a sucker an even break." Ma (Lucille La Verne) says it as the last line of the movie.
Adopted a hysterical 1 y.o. Tried to get behind every hanging picture she could, broke lots of stuff - a real terror. I didn't think I'd survive, but I saw something in her. Got some Comfort Zone, gave her as much love as she'd allow, & she's a slightly feisty sweetheart now. Only took 18 mos. #cats
"Traces 3 centuries of surveillance, discipline, & control as they migrated from the prison yard to the schoolroom, the workplace, the digital platform, & the public square. Documents how a nation built on liberty constructed an invisible infrastructure of observation that touches every citizen."
Like HARLAN COUNTY, USA. Duke Power's gun thug Basil Collins points gun at documentary director Barbara Kopple.
Saw a play last night that really needs to have more eyes on it. I STRONGLY URGE you to go to The Factory Theater's production, TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS, for an original and very entertaining night out. thefactorytheater.com/portfolio/tw... #Chicago #theater #livetheatre
Have a great day. I'll be going to the Obama Center - in October. #Juneteenth
Finally saw my FOY black-crowned night heron under some branches along a stream at Techny Basin (photo from Britannica), thanks to a nice couple out for their daily walk there. They also showed me a tree trunk half-gnawed away by beavers. #birds #Chicagobirding
Saw LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR yesterday. Still thinking about it. Set in Chicago, it showed some Rush St. markers of my own life in the 1970s. And yes, it WAS that dangerous. Though I wasn't a bar hopper, I'm lucky to have made it out alive. And I saw the play advertised at the Happy Medium (below).
Watched THE BOOK THIEF for the 1st time. Favorite moment was when Liesl took a book off the pyre, put it under her jacket, and walked with her dad with a wisp of smoke surrounding her. The love of reading and power of words to heal (and hurt) was so powerful to me. #booksky
My choice of 20 LGBTQ-themed or -coded films that I like: #filmsky #PrideMonth
But the vehicle it is based on (from South Africa when Musk was growing up) probably has.
