I was giving this progressive defense of "masculinity" a chance, but now that I've gotten to the part that explicitly says that men should disregard what lesbians think of them... That's just misogyny. It's almost a definition of misogyny.

Text about masculinity saying that being a man consists in being "recognized" as a man by "other men and straight women."

This is simply not true, and people need to stop saying things like this (and push back when others do so). It's blatantly false and keeps us from accurately understanding and helpfully addressing a situation that really is bleak and challenging.
