Agelena labyrinthica (?) - the labyrinth spider. We know it lives here because we see its labyrinth but it is the first time I’ve been able to say hello! 🕷️🕸️
Nettle plant where one leaf is completely shredded by dozens of caterpillars. Almost none elsewhere on the plant. Do they cluster like this for security? They will have to move on soon as the leaf is almost gone!
Probably my last visit to the thistle bush for a while😢 It is like an oasis here - clouds of butterflies like I remember from my childhood. The heat is unbearable - in direct sunlight and very humid and it is that that makes me turn my back now. 2026-07-15
Still not sure how I managed to live without the Merlin app before now. Just look at that spectrogram! I just wish I had perfect pitch so I could tell you what notes they are! #chiffchaff
På skogstur. Man kommer ikke forbi med mindre man svarer riktig. Svarer man feil så skyttes du i luften som i Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Hello? Did you want to talk? Vanessa atalanta - admiralen - the Red Admiral - and my leg. 2026-07-13
Watching me with caution obviously. But if I don’t come any closer, we’ll be just fine🦌❤️
Lycaena phlaeas, ildgullvinge, or small copper. Incredibly beautiful creature. 2026-07-12 Vestfold, Norway
Lepidoptera 2026-07-12. Please take care of thistles and nettles. People don’t like them much but butterflies love them!
The purple emporer and I with Lutvann in the background. (Stor purpurkåpe/Apatura iris) Østmarka, Oslo 2026-07-09
High above Lutvann in Østmarka and possibly the most beautiful encounter with nature I’ve ever had. I made a new friend and it almost didn’t want to leave me! 2026-07-09
So … what am I going to do on Saturday night? 🏴🇳🇴 I’m born in England, have lived nearly all my adult life in Norway. I’m a citizen of both countries. I want both teams to go through! What can I say? I hope it’s a really good, exciting, and fair game!
Platekompaniet are smart. They offer free postage on orders over 1200kr and this makes me add liberally to my shopping basket until I reach this target. I put in my order for Joyce di Donato’s «Emily - No Prisoner Be» and added Handel’s «Agrippina» to the list (with DiDonato) - it’s fabulous.
One of the brightest rainbows I’ve ever seen. Just in time for Karpe!
What an incredible show! Karpe World at Egeberg 2026-07-03. #Karpe4Life Touching, funny, sometimes sad. Amazing musicians on stage (and I loved that they all got name credits on the screen). I’m so glad I got to see them before it was too late. Nice family Friday evening out!
This came in the post today! MUSE «The WOW! signal» (Do seek out what that refers to if you don’t know - it is an exciting piece of science history.) First impressions are good. They aren’t coming to Norway this time around so it isn’t likely I will see them.
John Adams «El Niño» - fantastic work. I saw this at the Norwegian Opera and Ballet when it was still at what is now Folketeatret. Absolutely stunning music!
The Lambertseter Reflecting Pool, Oslo. Exactly zero dollars have been spent on making it reflect the blue sky. I did once get a photo of the Northern Lights reflected in this pool. It’s not only only … Oslo 2026-06-29
Love this album! Perfect summer music🇸🇪❤️ I was never a *huge* Roxette fan but I just love Per Gessle’s solo records. This is «Mazarin» from 2003 (good grief so long ago?) - I can’t quite put my finger on why I like it so much but it just hits me in the right place. Genius!
First lizard I’ve seen in Norwegian nature for years!! Made my day! Nordmarka, 2026-06-27 🦎❤️
I don’t watch many scary movies but when I do I usually focus my eyes at a point slightly away from the screen so I’m vaguely aware what’s happening but I’m sort of shielded. This match is a bit like that. 🇳🇴🇫🇷
And so it was Friday again! Wishing you all a wonderful, peaceful, safe, and happy weekend! Be kind! 🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴
Hello? You’re going to make me miss my Metro train aren’t you?! Bergkrystallen, Oslo 2026-06-25
