Happy Thursday! We have a happy but dorky dog relationship since late last. A return from taking care of a Florida lawn & garden was more tiring than I expected. I fell very asleep in the tub. I'm going to have to show Charlie how to bounce his light off the bathroom mirror and get me moving again.😵‍💫

There's a line I like from the film Streep did with the late great Robert Redford, Out of Africa, about how water "doesn't live here, it lives in Mombasa." Gulf of Mexico is sending me something I fear will grow to be Bertha this time. Water is so hot! I hope this pretty boy is soon to be near me!😃🐕

Charlie and me got round this tree of a morning beside big twin rotor birds landing for learning how. Pow, pow, pow is what I say to make him bird dog the Chinooks. A possibly aviation injured man in shorts waved then learned Charlie's name near our tree as Charlie had startled. A cat did it, later.

A better accompaniment in the water is a Portuguese water dog. I had a book from a FL library by a dog trainer (her cover photo appears to be my Charlie). She trained another Charlie to be Bo Obama. She worked with Sen. Ted Kennedy & wife Vicki to land Bo in our White House. Pres. Obama recalls it.

Today, on this momentous anniversary of D-day landings in Europe beside our allies, I'm grateful a Navy friend & colleague, Admiral William McRaven, placed his speech lauding police men & women early in his new book. It's nearly 2 decades since my dad, an Air Force military policeman, died on 6/6/07

Isn't it a lot like John Hancock boldly putting his flowing signature on the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago whenever a true-hearted national leader puts his declaration into reproduction as a poem?

Yet, without a doubt, the Admiral is still here for you because this nation is composed of such true citizenry. Some elite politicians are coming from a whole other place. That's something I have to remember as we arrive at a national 250th anniversary. I had much to believe in during 1976. Thanks!

Everything Trump touches dies. We all, whatever our political party or declared independence, deserve a Commander in Chief who listens to leading, top grade military men and women like this Navy admiral Bill McRaven or like Admiral Robert Harward, fellows I've literally walked beside by our shores.
