Sad news about William Orbit. He played a part in so many huge hits of the 90s… from Madonna, All Saints, Blur, Bass-O-Matic, Betty Boo and Beth Orton to Mel C. And producer extraordinaire for U2, Katie Melua, No Doubt, Pink and Queen. Farewell to one of pop’s true pioneers. #WilliamOrbit #TOTP
☀️ Heatwave? Not another one… er, yes! 📈 With high pressure building, temperatures rising into the mid to high 20s (possibly even higher) across much of Wales next week.
Thousands of us reliving our youth at #Cardiff Castle, with The Undertones, Stranglers and Sex Pistols. Mosh pit tonight? Middle-aged aches and pains tomorrow! Teenage Kicks, Golden Brown, Anarchy in the UK, No More Heroes, Pretty Vacant, Always The Sun… new-wave punk-rock heaven!
Same race shirt, different vintage! Had a laugh bumping into fellow #Cardiff 5k fans, Dave and Ben, at Llanishen parkrun. All looking forward to this one making a comeback next year!
Big fan of parkrun… but today was a bit special! Started the 500th Barry Island parkrun, with Derek Brockway. More than 500 of us ran the race. Met loads of friendly faces, had a fab breakfast with pals, and a dip in the sea. Huge thanks to the #BarryIsland #parkrun team who made it happen. 🏃🏾♂️
📺 Morning! Today’s breakfast telly for Wales is brought to you by Ellie, me, animal print and reading glasses…
📻 Catching up with a radio legend! Derek Brockway and I join Roy Noble on his show to talk heatwaves. 📈 It’s fifty years since the record-breaking summer of 1976. Looking back at that memorable heatwave, and how recent ones compare. (Listen on Sunday, BBC Radio Wales from 5-7pm and on BBC Sounds.)
Such sad news about Bonnie Tyler. She was always one of those ‘what you see, is what you get’ pop stars. The big voice, big hair, big 80s production matched her personality - larger than life, yet down to earth. Farewell to one of Wales’ finest performers. #BonnieTyler
🏴 Third heatwave of the year for much of Wales this week. Unlikely to be as hot and humid as the last one… but likely to last longer. 📈
🏴 “Diolch! Of all the languages… I should have learned Welsh, because I married into a Welsh family. Although it’s probably best if I don’t know what they’re saying!” Robert Smith having a bit of banter with the crowd! Fab concert from The Cure in #Cardiff… felt like a European Summer festival.
📈 Wales is set to see temperature records topple this week. ☀️ Highly likely we’ll exceed our June record (33.7 °C). And it’s possible we could challenge Wales’ hottest ever day on record… #Heatwave
Got sent this earlier… made me chuckle at the end of a busy day. Frankly I’m flattered by the comparison to one of my favourite female forecasters! #Scorchio @thefastshow.bsky.social
🏴 Can’t quite believe it’s ten years since that brilliant-but-bonkers party weekend in Bordeaux. ⚽️ Wales started their successful Euro 2016 campaign… just a bit special to have that as your first ever Wales Away game. Aaah, for that heady excitement once more! #Wales #Euros #TogetherStronger
Caught Steely Dan in concert a few years back. Love their music so much, that last night I saw the next best thing... Nearly Dan live at The Globe, Cardiff. Surely one of the best names for a tribute band ever?! #SteelyDan #Cardiff
☀️ At last, it’s the start of June, the start of meteorological summer. So obviously after last week’s heatwave… it’s cooler with rain at times this week! ☔️ #MeteorologicalSummer
‘The Young Ones were the Monty Python of our generation’… a perfect summary from one audience member! Great session with Nigel Planer, reminiscing about neil in ‘Young Once’. A real highlight from another glorious Hay Festival. Mum loved it too! #HayFestival
Happy 30th birthday, Fuzzy Logic! The debut LP from Super Furry Animals was released on this day in 1996. Picked it as my favourite Welsh album for the Welsh Music Podcast. For some serious super, furry reminiscing…listen again here! ⬇️ @neilcollins1986.bsky.social podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/wel…
📈 Here’s a welcome outlook! Warmer weather for the Bank Holiday weekend across Wales. And a taste of summer for half-term too! ☀️
Sad news about the Dr Hook frontman, Dennis Locorriere, who has died at the age of 76. ‘When You’re in Love With A Beautiful Woman’, ‘Sylvia’s Mother’, ‘Better Love Next Time’… all part of the soundtrack of the 70s that brings back big memories for the #TOTP generation. #DrHook #DennisLocorriere
Hello from a chilly Caerphilly 10k. Great new route around the castle and through the town… less hilly than previous years (which I’m grateful for these days). Followed by a well-earned brunch with pals. An all-round good day! 🏃🏾♂️

Keep seeing this ad popping up on my timeline. It’s supposed to make you want to buy Gucci… but it just makes me think of Mandy!* (*Which is hilarious, if you haven’t seen it yet!)
Sad news about the passing of Moya (Máire) Brennan of Clannad. Such a talented singer, songwriter and musician. Never actually watched Harry's Game, but like many children of the 80s, the theme is etched in the memory, thanks to that beautiful, ethereal voice. #Clannad #MáireBrennan
⛔️ Gridlock in Brecknock! 🐑 An obstruction on the mountain road, causing travel disruption between Brecon and Builth Wells...
☀️ It’s Wales’ warmest day of the year so far. The highest temperature of 25C was recorded at Mona on Anglesey. Feeling more like summer than spring… for a couple of days anyway!
Enjoying 1987 on #TOTP? Shameless Friday night plug for the Back to Now podcast, where we reminisce about loads of these hits! Plenty of Curiosity, Madonna, Pogues, Pet Shop Boys and ABC chat, as Pop Rambler and I celebrate this top pop year on NOW 10! linktr.ee/poprambler @poprambler.bsky.social
⚠️ Watch out for Storm Dave over the Easter weekend. A deep area of low-pressure will move in from the Atlantic, bringing strong winds across NW Wales, on Saturday night into Sunday. #StormDave
