Congratulations to Justin Pearson on his primary victory in Tennessee's 9th Congressional district! Justin has consistently put his body, voice, and political future on the line in defense of democracy, racial justice, and working people.
A moratorium on AI data centers and for so many other things billionaires hate
61 years ago today, on August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act was passed, one of the most significant civil rights achievements in our country’s history, protecting Black voters’ rights and a core part of protecting democracy for all of us.
SURJ is proud to endorse Justin Pearson for Congress in Tennessee’s 9th district. Justin has been on the front lines of the fight against the dismantling of the Voting Rights Act and the right's attack on Black political power.
Congratulations to Will Lawrence on his primary victory in Michigan’s 7th Congressional district, whose platform of housing rights, Medicaid for all, and climate justice just defeated millions in corporate money and the mainstream Democratic opposition 💪❤️🔥
Have you ever had a conversation about racism or politics where you looked back and thought, “I wish I had kept my cool and dealt with that differently”?

Justice for sweet baby Kohen Wiley. The police violence that continues to target Black people must end. There is nothing we can do to undo this horrific violence, but we can do what we can to put ourselves in the way of this death machine.

May Day is Friday- and we need solidarity more than ever. White people in particular: our communities have a track record of being recruited by those at the top to reject solidarity with working class people of color and instead choose whiteness. And- there are historic stories of solidarity too.

The far right has successfully moved racist conspiracy theories like "white genocide" or the "Great Replacement Theory" from fringe ideas to the mouth of the president on live TV. By drumming up a fake crisis for white people, they create cover to pass bills that will harm all of us.
"YOU LOOK AT ME." One of our members, Olga, a disabled, HIV-positive working class person, showing up with @popdemocaction.bsky.social to demand Repubkicans look directly at the people their proposed Medicaid cuts will impact. Be like Olga.
