ok here's some real data on house size www.eia.gov/consumption/... down on the EIA chart, historical numbers (first column total units in Millions, second column avg sq foot per single family home) really shows the baby boom and also the cutback in new construction after the 2008 housing crash

I'm a huge advocate for the environment/climate: and this is straight up wrong. #DestroyAI You gotta not fall for obvious propaganda, that has to be in your toolkit now. Big money with smart people will yoink on your emotions and use your passions for good things against you. Be smarter than this.

I get it. | do. But here's the thing, have you ever done an environmental impact audit on your own life or looked at what the biggest drivers of environmental damage are? The anti-Al sentiment is actually actively damaging the environment by blocking the infrastructure required to connect green energy sources to the power grid. Al is a big pull on the environment, sure. Four times as much energy as previous computing systems. But look at that again and understand the statistics. Because we have the ability to reduce that exponentially. As for the human mind, trust me, the degradation started long before AI. If you ask Plato, it started with writing. But that's a totally different point, I came to talk about
the environment. As someone who has worked for 20 years in natural resources
conservation, stop looking at the "hot topic” items, and start doing actual environmental audits on your life and your community. Do you maintain a lawn? That's a huge fucking environmental degradation. Seen any new housing development going on? Guess what? All that shit comes from somewhere
too, and the trees removed reduces carbon banking. Al is an easy target because it's a big thing you can point at and say "this is it." But that's a lie, because lined up behind it is every bit of the consumer culture we have built, ignoring the effects we have had, and allowing things like our fear from killing our own ability to offset our impacts. Seriously. All the solar farms in the world do nothing if we can't use that power because fearmongerers killed the permits to get it to the people.

This is likely by design because if the

the election would become a special
election which would allow Thomas
Massie to run as an Independent
and potentially win.

Wish I'd had this book when I was making decisions about leaving work/staying home with kids. We think our decisions are "rational" w/out understanding the system is designed to keep women in dependency, something the fascists are being explicit about now because too many women said "no thanks."

Yesterday I ran into a former student who upon seeing me exclaimed, “You look great!” I thanked her even though she was probably just being polite. An elderly friend once told me there were four ages to life: youth, middle age, old age, and “You look great.” I’m now in the fourth stage.

My wish for you is that you have a long lifespan and a long health-span, that you relish every day you have, spend time with people you love and value, let go of all the petty crap, wish no one ill (except perhaps Trump), and continue to fight for what’s good and noble and important.

These days most racists don’t like being called racists and most supremacists don’t like being understood as supremacists, and most fascists don’t like being called fascists. Instead, they try to cast their critics as the real racists, and those who try to resist their oppression and suppression as the real supremacists, and antifascists are the real fascists. There seems to be a reputational cost that attends their actual beliefs, one they’d rather make others pay, and they seem to know it. And, crucially, the benefits of reputation and costs of disrepute seem inevitably tied to the stories they tell about themselves and the stories they want to see told in society. They seem to understand on some deep level that story appears to be the staging ground of human spirit, and human spirit governs the limits and vistas of what is possible.

What happened? I’d say reality happened, and reality started informing the stories we told each other, which started governing the ways we think of ourselves and each other.

Which is what story does.
