Cabrera just hasn’t been able to get chase at all this year, and he’s yet to look like the guy they thought they were getting. Not sure how many more chances he’s going to get this season. Seems like an offseason project. All his pitches sit 95-98, how do you get chase when it’s all the same speed?

Roger Craig was obviously a talented player with a skill set ahead of his time. But, his numbers don’t measure up with other HOF running backs. Even Matt Forte had better career stats. Only difference is Craig’s team won a lot of games and Forte’s didn’t. Nobody is saying Forte is a HOFer.

Javier Assad continues to get good results while the underlying numbers look subpar. Assad is a valuable young depth piece that can step in to the starting rotation if there is an injury. He also has experience in the bullpen. If healthy, he has an important role in this organization.

I placed every realistic draft prospect the Bears could take in the 1st round into different categories. Almost every option has some sort of drawback. It’s going to be interesting to see how they navigate this draft.
White Sox: RP Paul Sewald From 2021-2023 Sewald had an ERA of 3.04 in 188 innings. Last year was a down year with the Diamondbacks. Sewald is a great candidate to sign and then trade at the deadline to a team looking for bullpen help. An easy path for the Sox to improve farm depth.
Cubs: C Danny Jansen Jansen over his career has hovered around league average as a hitter. Catcher was a big hole for them last year and Jansen gives them insurance if Miguel Amaya doesn’t work out. Jansen should will likely get a deal in the 2 year/20 million range.
Never forget that Ryan Tepera finished 18th in MVP voting back in 2020 despite his 3.92 ERA in 20.2 innings. The lone voter claimed the vote was made in error. Regardless, a very funny footnote in baseball history.
