Really struggling to get in movement this week. It is happening, but barely. Right now? Definitely would be content to just keep sitting here like this. But the morning light is only perfect for so long!
The mood of this morning's walk. A little tired. A little bit of a sore throat. But it is a beautiful windy morning.
Seven tortoises spotted and a horny toad! Started with music and then switched to listening to The Endurance Artist, which seems appropriate to only listen to while on the trails
I've been working on a "Western Mountains" playlist. Basically, I don't love country music but want something that captures the vibe of the trails I regularly walk/run. I'm sure this genre already exists, but it isn't quite folk music. Avi Kaplan is often a good fit, but not always.
I have pretty conflicted feelings regarding today - Independence Day for the US. But, one thing we've gotten right at least some of the time? Conserving some of the most magnificent landscapes. Here's to hoping we can weather the next few years okay and make improvements from there.
So many fires! We passed about five Union Hotshot trucks on our way down - probably going from one fire to another.
How am I supposed to go for a hike or run in these conditions?!
I don't necessarily want them on me or in my house, but spiders can be absurdly cute. Zoom in for its cute little face.
The good news - I did make it outside. The so-so news, one of my cats may have mortally wounded a hummingbird. I caught her almost immediately after it happened (I do keep an eye on them while they're outside, though clearly need to be more present), put her inside. Rushed to grab gloves. (1/3)
The weather has been quite varied (most of my seedlings were baked in the 90s (F) on Tuesdays or blown to bits by the wind yesterday), but it is still stunning! I will say, though I wish Utah were greener, it will be difficult to live somewhere flatter than here.
I'm going to get up and go for a run, but the literal pressure to stay put is strong!
Today celebrates a year of this little feline being in our lives. She's a creature of chaos, but also joy.
One of the things I love about World of Warcraft (and other video games) is that the music is usually fantastic. Currently listening to the Midnight soundtrack and it just makes every walk/hike immediately feel epic
Just me over here having a minor anxiety attack because I left one of our cats unchecked outside for something like two minutes and then spent the next forty five minutes trying to find her. The cat harness is coming out of storage.
Yesterday's outside time brought along six somewhat patient birds, waiting for the felines to move along further from the feeders, and one unexplained major fluff out (it might have been a bug or her older sister - who knows).
Chilly but beautiful out there! I only saw one human (from afar off) and seven turkeys (much closer).
And also, the snow has made the most lovely ring around the glass on our windows.
Nearing the end of an era. My tea of choice for the last few years - pretty much as soon as I was introduced to it - has been Good Earth's Creme Earl Grey. It has been discontinued for around a year, and I managed to stock up - but finally opened my last box this morning.
Seriously - the sky is stunning this morning (with zero filters applied).
This morning's run was powered by Ray of Solar by Swedish House Mafia. If anyone wants to have an early 5:00/6:00 AM Run/Rave, hit me up! ;)
My life, in a brief moment. It's not always comfortable, but it's pretty great. :)
It has been a very full and wonderful week! Back to reality tomorrow, but also so happy to be home with our fluffs. Family, puzzles, gifts, food (so much food), games, morning walks, a family 5k, rock climbing, art (both making and seeing), paper crowns - too many fun things!
The current view of the Tennessee River (this shot from last night) in Alabama does *not* disappoint.
