I subscribed to the USA Philatelic catalog on a whim recently (I used to collect stamps, as a kid, and it felt nostalgic). The new issue came today, and now I know that the USPS has put out a Mister Rogers Stationery Set as part of their Mister Rogers stamps release, and I kinda want one.

I had a few interactions with Sam, back when Twitter was still fun, but this one was my favourite. RIP to a lovely human. I didn't know him personally, but I'll miss him all the same.

A few weeks ago, I set up a sensor on our mailbox, and now it plays the old AOL "You've got mail" sound on all of the home speakers every time the USPS mail gets delivered, and it delights me every single time.

This is the point at which I would normally post a dramatic graph from our weather station, showing the spike in particulate around 8pm when the fireworks started, but… now I'm wondering if there's something wrong with our particulate sensor. An unexpected spike at 7am and then… dead battery maybe?

I was, in fact, the (teen) child who craved The Phantom. And The Shadow. And The Rocketeer, Dick Tracy, and The Mummy. I even have a soft spot for the wildly inventive, if not all narratively successful, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I realize I'm in the minority. But I'm glad they exist. 😄
