This comment on the Atlantic article on why the UK is in a fix made me laugh. Can't make my mind up if it's a Brit pretending to be American but then exposing themselves with a long post on the UK, or an American pretending to be an authority on the UK.
A tweet of an audio of Harry commenting on the idea of a Northern No 10 office gets.... 1 retweet and 3 likes.
They tweeted a video of their Executive Director being interviewed about Andy Burnham and that got 3 retweets and 6 likes.
@resolutionfoundation.org isn't the only progressive think tank plying its trade on the fascism and racism promoting website. @ippr.org is also over there. Here is the engagement that they got from rewteeting something their Scotland branch posted. 4 Retweets, 3 likes.
Just before that thread, a nice tweet on apprenticeships that gets - no retweets, no likes.
Just before that, a thread responding to Andy Burnham's speech, where the header tweet gets no retweets and 7 likes. To be fair, 2 of the tweets in the thread get retweets, 1 each.
We have to presume that the reason they stay on is for publicity and engagement. So let's take a look at how much engagement they are getting. Latest tweet that is not about a job they are advertising [which won't be interesting to most people]: 1 retweet, 2 likes, accumulated over 16 hours.
This is what you are supporting by staying on. Don't see how that can be consistent with your mission. You might tell yourself stories about reach, but, come on, the first 10 tweets in your feed have <10 likes and some, like this one, have none at all.
Anyway what I was doing was trying to answer @gilesyb.bsky.social question which was roughly 'what are Putin fans like Cummings saying about the war now?' and the answer might be 'find an anecdote that shows the Russians doing something winning and amplify it'.
What a nasty mind Cummings has. Translates as 'Immigrants are rapists and they are brought here deliberately to rape people.' I really hope he has no influence on anything ever again. Maybe it's realising that he won't that has made him perpetually angry.
Have they contracted these probability calculations out to a sell-side researcher?
Incredible. So the policy prescription is deprive women of their independence by stopping them working, so that women who are not working because they are also forced to conceive kids in wedlock because that's the only acceptable way and reason to have sex are not outbid.
Including this obvs unattributed quote by a 'minister' is also classic Mason. 'Here is this damning, trite thing said by an important person who obviously won't reveal their name, so let's include it.'
...Before resorting to an unnamed quote advising that she was too close to Starmer's admin to be kept on.
I'm sneering somewhat at the journalists and photographers and the crowd, but actually here I am watching it, so I am just the same.
We are not far off 45m accounts, folks. Maybe that will be the tipping point to unravel X and Facebook and... ok, of course not.
I think it's rather sweet that Doku wants to leave the World Cup camp to attend the birth of his first child. I've no idea if I could live up to this if I was picked for my national quad. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...
