I've been porting this old flash game of mine from actionscript 3 to C++ (custom engine) and it runs at 5000+ fps at 30% gpu usage... I'll add gamepad support, achievements and a nice CRT filter or two and I'll put it on steam/itch for free, maybe port it to sega megadrive?
