I get much use out of this. I did hear that US special forces were patterned after the Nazis but this was a snatch of conversation and I would need to research the topic. However, certain SEAL Team 6 members in Afghanistan were reportedly passing around a book called "Devil's Guard" as a sort of-
this feels like a reaction image somehow
8: Godzilla Raids Again s'cool i guess. Human characters didn't grab me. I did enjoy the slapstick feel of the kaiju battle juxtaposed with the destruction it caused, and the way it gets suddenly serious when the battle wraps up and Godzilla unleashes the atomic breath that symbolises nuclear power
7: Godzilla (1954) I put this movie on the same level as Stray Dogs: Kerberos Panzer Cops in terms of moving me emotionally. It actually brought me to tears. Godzilla was reborn into a world that passed it by and for that it must die. A dense and meaningful movie to me.
6. Fury: My War Gone By The story of a man who loves the thrill of war, the degradation of the American GI as a global symbol, and the devouring nature of realpolitik and "necessary evil", all told through the story of Nick Fury's post-WW2 deeds on behalf of the CIA. I loved Letrong Giap.
5. Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash vol 1 The translation was somewhat hacky but the book still shone. One of the best UC Gundam works. Thoughtful about all of the ideas it puts forth, gripping, complex. New things to think about every page. Tomino's writing is prescient and compelling.
4. Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash (movie) Killer soundtrack. Politically thoughtful writing by Tomino translated artfully into cinema. Even elements that couldn't be fully adapted have their ideas transmitted. Loved the MS fight scenes. The "at the feet of the fighting MS" sequence was gold.
really interesting passage from hathaway's flash vol 1 that pokes at the dissonance of mafty fighting against space ICE while ultimately having the endgame of *nobody* getting to live on earth anymore. like does he think he'll just educate everyone and they'll all agree? what if they want to stay?
fond of these ones that i didn't see posted already
Your job is to pick the worst possible actor to play James Bond. Go!
I felt like a voyeur screenshotting this as much as I did. Like I was an obnoxious camerawoman intruding on a deeply intimate moment that should have been forgotten by history and immortalising it like I was pinning a flower inbetween the pages of a book.
Gamma's story only barely intersects with the others, covers basically all of Gamma's short life, has basically nothing to do with the main storyline and there is no indication that history remembers any of it and it's the best story in the entire game you can't change my mind
okay I finished my replay of Gamma's story. also the entirety of Sonic Adventure. got to stream it to friends late at night while yapping
5. Anti (SSSS. Gridman) Probably natural for a Shadow fan to pop off for this guy. He's one of the monsters created to kill Gridman, but he's also capable of thought and has a human form. All his abilities are ripoffs of Gridman, because his thing is "copy Gridman". All of this matters thematically
3. Erika Furudo (Umineko) Look at this HORRID LITTLE AWFUL SMUG RAT! Entertaining whether she's winning and gloating or losing and crying because she's doopid
2. Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic series) I have a soft spot for his brand of edgy but he's got a lot more depth to him than that, even if the writers haven't always remembered that. I find him compelling and interesting as a character. Also he's just *cool* to me. Always has been.
Rosamia Badam (Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, 1985) yeah you probably saw this one coming. should have had more episodes tbh. i love lab rat orphan super soldiers. her ability to do things is impeded by her mental illness and people only ever remember her for being silly and crazy. relatable somehow.
