i think i shared this years ago when i had a tumblr but this was the extent of preprod on Epilogue, from March 2021 Forest and Tropical islands became Tall, Tall Treetops and Jolly Roger Shoreline respectively. Infinite course would've been Eternal Fort. McDonald's playplace was not a joke

this is a thing ive gone back and forth on for my models, but i finally decided to stop doing it a few days ago cuz there’s no real Alias-like way to do fillets in Blender by default that doesn’t also mess up the normals, and all the relevant add-ons are like 40 bucks lol

I don’t like rewriting my old material much but seeing as Classified was so vague to begin with I figured I’d at least expand a bit on Jim and how I believe the series reads now with a step back Behold: The Jible

THE JIBLE

James "Jim" Okamoto was born on July 25 1967 to a Japanese father and French-Canadian mother in Sacramento, California. His family moved to the Seattle area when he was twelve years old. In order to fit in, he would often make excursions to the local video arcades, where a passion for gaming would develop. Nintendo games quickly became his favourite, and he saved up to buy a Nintendo Entertainment System after its nationwide release in early 1986.

After graduating high school, he pursued a major in computer science. To get through the final stretch of college, he landed a job at Nintendo of America as a counsellor for the Nintendo Power Hotline. Though playing games was fun, he would've preferred to make them instead. His numerous applications to Nintendo were either met with polite rejection, or totally ignored.

In 1990, he moved back to California in hopes of having better luck finding a job in tech. He would later join Silicon Graphics as a hardware programmer. This highlight of his life would be short lived, because in 1993, Nintendo came back into his life after striking a deal with Silicon Graphics to help develop their next-gen system. Alongside colleagues Steve and Bill, Jim became part of a dream team of sorts and often had to fly to Japan in order to submit SGl's work on Project Reality, later known as the Nintendo 64.

Due to their familiarity with the hardware, this team was also put to work on the flagship title Super Mario 64. Development was rocky due to creative differences between SGI and the Japanese team, and by 1995 development was deemed to be progressing too slowly to meet the deadline later that year. This prompted the rushed creation of an algorithm to speed up development and optimize code in real time. Though just a tool at first, gameplay opportunities involving procedurally generated content became clear, and it was implemented as such.

Jim had the honour of activating it, but it malfunctioned and proceeded to display various graphical glitches which caused him to faint. After a few weeks off work, he came back in a more hands-off role, helping write secondary material and playtesting. This is when he first became acquainted with the seemingly sentient Al within the game, which had chosen to dub itself Stanley.

Unable to comprehend how such a thing could even happen, he began to push its limits further until causing it actual anguish and pain. Jim would make modifications to the code, and bring unauthorized builds home to test on hardware. Before the game went gold, he deleted the Al's source code, becoming the only one on Earth to possess it. This resulted in 15 of the planned 30 courses to become corrupted, with the final game being delayed and compromised to meet its final
June 23rd 1996 release.

Jim's experiments went on for an extra year, where he became increasingly estranged from friends and family. He ended his tests in September 1997 when Stanley audibly screeched and wailed in pain. It was enough. He sealed the last cartridge in a small box in his basement and carried on with life as somewhat of a recluse.

In 2008, he died in a house fire.
