Scientist by day. Sometimes i write things at night.
Strangers often say things like, “oooh, I love your tattoo!” …which is always a delightful way to remember I have a tattoo of my cat, Nox, as an astronaut taking up most of my upper arm.
A friend started an art club & she taught us how to make cyanotypes. She even had a PP deck with history, technique and talked about the absolute baddie botanist, Anna Atkins This is one of mine. If you think you see spiders, yes you do. My friend found some dead little guys & set them aside for me
Do reviews from your husband & another friend who is basically brother still count as glowing? Check it out and decide for yourself kaleidotrope.net/summer-2026/...
I am trying and failing to write on theme for Apex. This happy dappled girl in a sunbeam is not what’s meant by a sun dog
I need you all to look at this happy little dweeb. Belugas get picked last in gym class. They cannot do a Free Willy over a wall.
My father-in-law was teasing me that my outfit for the Indy 500 made me look like a girl from Waynetown. And good. I am a girl from Waynetown.
Had another spot on my skin biopsied (and cauterized) so I got boba tea from a little shop that has chosen chaos and maximalism and aggressive bubble-gum pink femininity. It’s all about balance
Psst, guess what?? @joanofdarkknits.bsky.social and I are making a video podcast (vodcast? Vlog?) of us making the “Project Hail Mary” sweater. Come knit with us #projecthailmary #knitting
LOOK AT MY SWEATER. I MADE IT. I wore it to my mammogram because surely if I have the tenacity to finish this, I can also handle being uncomfortable and awkward for a few minutes. It’s called a transferable skill.
Kids. What are they? Another species? And if so, are they the ones constantly hiding my keys? (I was re-assured I picked right size for my nearly 10 year old niece. Strawberry açaí lemonades aren’t super caffeinated)
I think one of the great gifts of life is having relationships with people who have known and loved you for decades. For real reasons that are serious and for trivial, random things like wtf is that song???
Last Monday a friend sent me this and said, “It’s you” Maybe Mondays just have that energy, you know?
I bought this really fun book from @silvaniart.bsky.social today at C2E2 (it’s definitely meant for kids but it’s perfect for me) And now I have my very own Mongo from Dungeon Crawler Carl
I’m getting healthier, which includes proper nutrition, exercising and yes, losing weight on purpose. That said I literally LOLed in the locker room when i spotted my belly button. Baby girl is frowning & jowly like a Persian cat
I have stickers. Sometimes those stickers are adhered to gas pumps. It’s a mystery how they get there.
This is the card I pulled. Maybe it’ll happen today. How’s that for a new beginning?
I’ve realized that fucking around with watercolors is a lot like stories I can tell immediately what’s wrong with it. (Her tail) Husband sees it & calls it amazing. He doesn’t see the tail in the wrong place. I think it’s the same with stories. The flaws are harder to spot if you don’t write too
Husband was snooping in my sketchbook and asked me to make him a Saproling Magic card with my watercolors And yes, of course. But I was teaching myself to draw little guys from @corygodbey.bsky.social’s artwork, who is an actual Magic artist. I barely know what a Saproling is…
Like, I am mad at The Church but I am not angry with Mary and I like talking to her, okay?? But that’s not a work conversation.
