We were made aware of the rare character 祂，which, while also pronounced "tā", is used only for divine/supernatural beings and doesn't carry the gender connotations of 他/她. This seemed perfect for Lucah as a character so we used it. I do wonder how well it translated the intent in context.

1. It’s absurd to see this running on a phone with cross progression. It’s technology I’ve been fixated on since working on it on Manifold Garden 2. This developer absolutely loves Hideo Kojima’s work in a super blatant way. 3. The in-app user research/playtest surveys are impressive technically.

My unexpected GDC highlight was Kentaro Tominaga's talk on directing "Infinity Nikki" and communicating about design effectively across languages & time zones. The fact that they had an interpreter on every single feature pod is wild. How this kind of production operates is amazing to me.

Translation Staff in Two Locations:

Japan Based Staff: Could directly communicate with Tominaga

Shanghai Based Staff: Could directly communicate with local development staff

It’s early to be talking about Game of the Year in March, and I’ve already chastised multiple colleagues for writing the words “Game of the Year contender” already, as it’s a meaningless statement that tells you nothing about a game’s quality. So I’m not going to tell you that Death of a Wish is a Game of the Year contender. I’m not going to tell you it’ll beat Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth on our final list come December. But I’m going to urge you to play it, and to remember it when the time comes. In fact, I challenge you not to.

Tomorrow we are doing a thing to promote "Death of a Wish" where we send postcards to folks who complete the demo above a certain score threshold. I hope this contest gets people to seriously consider the game and put in the effort to appreciate its nuances
