Posting about whatever interests me, and sometimes promoting my book (amazon.com/dp/B07MCQ84TF) or my youtube channel (youtube.com/@thatnorwegianthomas).
Starting questioning my memory, and decided to dig up where I heard about it.
Settling on a cover for my novel, Billie Albatross and Her Time Traveling Mom, has been a multi-year journey that has continued long after the book's been published. Will I change it again some day? Probably. Buy it here: amazon.com/dp/B07MCQ84TF #writingcommunity #booksky #amwriting
Watched some good movies this week. But perhaps more importantly, I also watched all ten episodes of 'Now Apocalypse', meaning I've now seen pretty much everything Gregg Araki's made where he wasn't "just" a director for hire.
“Show me what comic you loved when you were 13, and that’s all I need to know about you.”
Adam Savage talks about making a maquette for the new skyhopper. When George saw it, he apparently said "The only reason we made the T-16 look like it did is because we only had plywood and no time." Adam's supervisor later told him, "George didn't like anything about this. I guess, just keep it.'"
Share a '90s movie that you think deserves more love. (I refuse to do just one, but if forced to pick, I'd have gone with 'Fucking Åmål')
One of these movies gave me a decent idea for a short story I'll probably end up writing at some point.
Nothing amazing here, but all except The Addams Family were at least interesting. Song to Song might grow on me, and I'm still trying to decide how I really feel about Color of Night. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched
This look sure feels like a glimpse into the alternate reality where Jodie Foster was cast as princess Leia. Depending on who you ask, she either turned down the role because she was set to do a Disney movie (her story), or Lucas decided the schedule would be too difficult with her being under 18.
A year and a half ago, I watched Ka-Boom (2010) for the first time and loved it enough that I wanted to watch every Greg Araki movie in release order. Today I watched The Doom Generation (1995), and while the earliest Araki movies are fine, this is what I was looking for. Loved it. Will watch again.
Starting my (almost) daily hour-and-a-half long summer walks early this year.
Just watched one of the best movies I'd never heard about before. Very fun. Will watch again. Why isn't this part of the teen comedy canon?
This was a reply to someone posting a photo they claimed was of Carrie trying on Harrison's glasses. Not much to brag about numbers-vise, but it is highly representative of what I probably do best: pedantically correct someone—or just adding some information—about something Star Wars related.
Young Adult Sci-Fi Adventure: Young Billie discovers her mother's a runaway time traveler, and go on an adventure filled with laughs, mysteries, action, lots of heart, and a colorful cast of human, alien and virtual characters. www.amazon.com/dp/B07MCQ84TF
Rewatched 'National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1' (1993) for the first time in decades after I heard someone on a podcast offhandedly refer to it as a "bad movie." Definitely not a bad movie. Sure, it's a step below Airplane!, the Naked Guns, and the Hot Shots—but it's still a good one of those.
From circa 1979, I think. I always assumed there's an interview that goes with this photoshoot, but I never found one.
Watched 'Megalopolis' (2024) last week. It's a pretty good movie, and I think you got to be a fairly boring person to hate it. My only real issue with it is that it isn't an hour longer so there'd be more time to flesh out the supporting cast of characters. #MovieSky
Watched Jim Jarmusch's Night on Earth (1991) for the first time, and rarely have I been more disappointed than the moment I realized the whole movie wouldn't be about Winona Ryder's character. Sure, the rest of the thing is mostly fine, but Winona can't help but overshadow everything that follows.
Finally watched Kevin Smith's 2016 movie Yoga Hosers, and unsurprisingly, I don't get it. And by "it," I mean I don't get why people hate it. Sure, I might've preferred if it was more hangout movie and less monster movie, but it mostly works. The Colleens are likable and the vibes are fun.
