Scrolling YouTube and I'm happy to announce that AI slop thumbnails have peaked. It's never topping this!
You know what we don't talk enough about? That BBC stars sing 'Wonderwall' clip that got taken down really quickly because it sucked and England lost. Well here you go! Worse than that 'Imagine' video. Worse than Captain Tom's daughter. They should all be facing charges at The Hague.
A problem with pro wrestling is a normal sentence in that world reads as completely bonkers to a non-fan. Like when you say "So Hulk Hogan had this best friend right, but he was also like a valet and a bag carrier for all his drugs. Oh and he was called BRUTUS BEEFCAKE." Mental industry.
Decided I'm going to binge re-watch The Comic Strip Presents. What are your favourites and maybe underappreciated episodes.
IT'S THE BIG ONE! I've always wanted to cover the 30 year war between Ken Barlow and Mike Baldwin on Coronation Street. The alpha dogs of the cobbles. So I did, to the sound of Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Enjoy your day!
Additionally, the great loss of Rik's accident was we didn't get him doing more dramatic creepy bastard roles. Like how Robin Williams best work (FOR ME, CALM DOWN), is his dramatic roles, Mayall had a great untapped dramatic future. His appearance in The Bill as an absolute shithouse was superb.
Watched those new docs on Rik Mayall. He's my absolute hero, but I'm a realist about him and feel bad whenever stans give Ade stick for ending the partnership. I can completely understand why he did. After his accident Rik was clearly different and some people seem blinded by hero worship of him.
So hot this week I saw they are relaxing school uniform rules. Can't wait for this arsehole with her shit GLOW wrestling villainess gimmick to call children weak and talk about how the UK is failing as a country. All because children will be learning maths in short sleeves.
Here's The Sandman in ECW defying his expected physics and somehow leaping OVER the top rope like he's doing the hurdles. ... I've also added some Super Mario SFX because I was bored and I'm a child.
Passed my first French language exams at the University of Clermont-Ferrand. First time properly learning a new language, it's been very difficult, but hope to keep improving for next semester in A2. Very pleasant post that wasn't it. Here's me looking banging. Obvs! Passez une bonne journée 🇫🇷
Just remembered that we used to spend a decent wedge of actual human monies for just FOUR episodes of The Simpsons on VHS... And if you're old enough, TWO episodes. Thank god someone taught me about long play and getting a bunker worth of scotch blanks.
Something I miss about the UK is sitting on the bus and reading the Metro and howling at letters like this. The last sentence is why I've had this stored on my phone for 11 years.
RIP Roger Cook. 'The Cook Report' is must-see stuff. He loved a good disguise did Roger, especially when he wore this amazing fake moustache when investigating the Midlands Hot Dog Wars.
When your 100% convinced the Beckham method of naming a child is the right way, and you'll hear no arguments against it.
There's a brilliant camera shot of Bowie after that prayer from Roger Taylor's POV and Bowie has a proper "Did I just do that? I'm not massively sure that was as good an idea as I convinced myself" look. Always cracks me
You know what we don't talk enough about? Queen & Annie Lennox/David Bowie rehearsing 'Under Pressure' in 1992. So much going on! Everyone's clothes, Bowie with a lit cig throughout, where Annie PROPER GOES FOR IT, George Michael singing along in the background. The amazing vocals. Yes, please!
I love how scatty television used to be. Here's the BBC coverage of Live Aid and the late Andy Kershaw is conducting an interview. On the coffee table in full view, a packet of 20 Marlboro Reds and a big box of oven matches. J'adore!
"Yes, Viko?" "Please sir, can I have another biscuit?" "MORE! You want MORE biscuits?" **Doe eyed stare** "Don't give me that stare Viko" **More doe eyes** "... FINE... Another biscuit." **Eats biscuit, repeats above**
My obligatory Star Wars post to all the nerds and virgins on your special day.
Nothing to see here... Just a compilation I threw together encapsulating the 50 years of neverending misery for Gail Platt on Coronation Street, with a bit of Bonnie Tyler to soften the blow. Enjoy!
You know what we don't talk enough about? Aneka on TopPop (1980) Is a Scot in geisha yellowface singing in cod Asian enough? Nah, they've added in Kendo players and Aneka querying some 🇯🇵 extras (WITH CAMERAS) at the Venus de Milo (so she's wandering the Louvre?) Bit on the nose. Still a tune!
I LOVED that unhinged lady from Michael Jackson's 2005 trial, releasing a dove for every not guilty verdict. Jacko fans can be rather dramatic and like to make a statement. So I genuinely worried if he got found guilty on any counts, that this woman was going to wring a doves neck on live TV! 🕊️
Watching old episodes of 'They Think It's All Over' and I've taken this screengrab purely to notify @iandrewdiceclay.bsky.social
