Got an AusAir mask to try, and on the whole, I like it. Easier to wear, better seal, replaceable filters. Only things I don't like is the upfront cost (wait for a sale) and the gap between the filter and the exterior cover makes it more likely to fog my glasses.

So, did a thing today.

17 years ago, I read these books. After I was done, gave them to an acquaintance. I thought he'd like them. Today, I saw that good friend in the Hospital. Possibly for the last time before his funeral. I asked if he still had them. He did, and gifted them back. The worst gift. The best gift.

The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeksin 3 white paperback book. Old and worn. A bit frayed.

Gender affirming care is a form of life saving and evidence-based healthcare;
The Government of Alberta has limited who can have reasonable access to healthcare through Bill 26;
The Canada Health Act states that “eligible residents of Canada must have reasonable access to required health services”;
The Canadian Medical Association has stated this legislation is an unprecedented intrusion into the physician’s ability to follow clinical guidelines, and the needs of patients;
It is up to patients and their healthcare provider to decide what care they require;
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms upholds the right of residents of Canada to Section 2a (the right to freedom of conscience in medical practice), Section 7 (the right to life, liberty and security of the person), Section 12 (the right to be free from cruel and unusual treatment), and Section 15 (equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination);
The denial of gender affirming care can lead to profound consequences on the psychological welfare of youth, which can result in suicidal ideation or suicide; and
Our leaders should be encouraging youth to receive healthcare as advised by their healthcare providers, rather than undermining it.

We, the undersigned, residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to ensure all eligible residents of Canada can access required healthcare, including gender affirming healthcare, as outlined in the Canada Health Act and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The Design Mechanism posted this on Fb: They're in a better position than most, but tariffs are going to hurt USian gamers and most game companies HARD.

The recent impositions of tariffs by the USA is going to affect just about every industry and every sector. The Design Mechanism specializes in paper-based roleplaying games, and so is sensitive to changes in the costs of paper, ink, and the machinery used in the printing industry. We do have some protection against tariffs; we moved to a 100% print on demand model some time ago, and partner with Lulu which has print centres spread across the globe. When you order from us, your book is printed in the Lulu facility closest to where you live, and ships from the same facility. This means that US customers are buying books that will be printed and made in the USA, Canadian customers benefit from the Canadian print centre, European and Australian customers similarly. We do not print in China and import books to regional distribution hubs, so there will be no import tariffs to be paid as a result for US customers. However, in the USA, Lulu print facilities rely on paper sourced from Canada, and so there may well be price rises in US-printed books simply because the cost of paper will increase (this is already taking effect with DrivethruRPG, which uses Ingram as its POD partner, and Ingram are already raising their US prices). We will try to absorb price rises as much as we can, but it's likely that we will have to make some adjustments if Lulu require it. We will, of course, try to keep everyone informed if or when prices change.

Five years ago today, we went from being hopeful for the future, to losing our apartment and almost everything we owned just before the whole Pandemic thing happened. We still have not recovered financially, even with insurance. Don't know if we'll ever recover mentally/emotionally.
