Highways of History

I am a dad, historian, veteran, author, and a History Youtuber. I cover history and travel, with some car related content along the way. Current Youtube Old Youtube www.youtube.com/@thecreweofthefancy
I did it...seeing the smile on my son's face (my daughter is asleep) was worth me swallowing my pride on what I wanted to keep as a mint car. I was totally prepared to save up to color match and properly fix it, but now the kids have further ideas. It's "OUR" car and the smiles are worth it.
Since my kids voted on renaming the car to Furiosa from Strawberry Cake...they begged for a bumper feature. I said no at first, then today at work I thought about how happy they'd be if I agreed. It cost nothing but a little time to say "yes." Carved the stencil out of cardboard and am letting/
Another few coats and it's reading less Mad Max and more Alien.
It's coming to life. Mainly I want to make it look as though the front bumper and soon hood is slightly "zombified" for a car.
Posting as a before, hopefully it looks nice by the end of the day.
Mine is at the age she has lost her no-table scraps rule, not that I followed it while scolding everyone else. Never liked dogs, especially larger ones, but my wife talked me into visiting a bunch of puppies while I was in the Army and this one crawled up and nibbled my ear. She's half blind now,/
Today in 1863, following the retreat of the 11th PA the day before, Sallie Ann Jarrett, would still be on Oak Ridge guarding the wounded from Confederates. She would rejoin her unit days later and serve until February 1865 when she was killed in action.
My daughter got a tour of a shop specializing in Mustangs. Owner saw how excited she was and let her check it all out. I don't think traditional car culture is ever going to fully disappear, especially when old guys see my daughter as worth teaching and encouraging. Huge props to them.
It's me, I'm the historian, it's me, at tea time everybody agrees... Apparently someone trolled a yearbook with Hitler's baby photo and this dude doesn't understand how many of us have seen that little asshole's* picture. Side note/
Folks listen, I get the whole Fascist/Nazi thing, but for fuck's sake...11 Stars is a version of the Confederate States flag. Eagles in a "modern" context represent the ideals of the Roman Republic. Anyone could use those. We used it before Hitler was a twinkle in his daddy's eye.
Mr. Mayor, can you ask the 66th Precint to return an old man's cars? A Karen reported them as abandoned and they are actually known in the car community. They have up to date registrations and brand new tires.
I can understand people think I'm like the folks who think the dumbass who hired the worst pool guy ever is "smart," but I'm drying out a radiator from 1995 after running PB Blaster and distilled water. I have painters cloth on my porch because I do art and don't like disturbing my neighbors.
It feels so strange letting fans see writing in progress. That is something I have never done before. Also, having the wife take the husband's dream car and know how to maintain it, I hope someone somewhere gets inspired.
Tesla allegedly switched into self driving mode in Hershey, PA. I included an image of what the pillars look like undamaged.
Drove 3 hours round trip today to drop off a historical hat, got to check out an 18th century howitzer, and got 2 bottles of homemade mead.
Be careful on comparing the DeLorean to the Cybertruck. The DMC DeLorean was the brainchild of John DeLorean who was also responsible for the Pontiac GTO and the Pontiac Firebird. My personal thought is that DeLorean, without having major backing, got too deep into his own head and oversold/
Me- I love Ford V8 cars, Galaxies, Vics, Mustangs, Bootlegger specials.... Also Me- MINI TRUCKS ARE FREAKING AWESOME!!!!
My son wanted to be a 17th doctor for Halloween and to use the suit double duty for reenacting, he wore a Venetian style mask for visibility, but he was very keen to lecture folks on the history. Sadly I don't have a picture of him with the mask, but I do have his fancy 17th century suit.
My mom finally got her stone. Thank you Lancaster EMS for being the family my mom and I never had.
Stupid thing to be sad about, I was talking to my kids about a cat I'd rehabbed over a decade ago, had passed. Her last pictures were getting snuggles. I made a surprise visit at the store the year she passed and she immediately came over for snuggles which confused the store who didn't know me./
When white folks attack other folks over their use of cars.... When in doubt, also feel free to remind them how Nascar started.
I expressed frustration that I couldn't relax on my day off so the void bounded across the room and is forcing me to relax.
Hydroplaning is not fun. We had storms while I was at work. Came out, roads seemed fine. Trees down though. Ended taking a turn AT NORMAL SPEED (need to stress that as a Mustang owner) and lost all traction.
.....I normally bash these things but the car is running better. I am curious to see fuel economy.
Dumb car decisions. Also I sometimes forget how weird Pennsylvania is. I'm in a flood plain with some hills. Less than hour and I am going over the 3 of the orogenies that formed the Appalachian Mountains.
Note, even seemingly tiny repairs and maintenance can make a difference in fuel economy. I very sure I am in the mid-20s since a normal drive I take that tends to eat gas barely touched it. Car sounds better too. (A nice mellow grumble, not the annoying brt brt brt)
Paid a visit to HOPEFULLY my soon to be current employer. My daughter wanted a hat. Daughter acquired said hat and my respect for the company shot up immensely.
Fixing an annoying exhaust rattle. Also USE JACK STANDS AND NEVER A JACK WHEN CRAWLING UNDER VEHICLES!!!!!!
