update: there are cue marks, will catalog them for @romesando.bsky.social's cuemark database
print itself (like most original prints of 2001) was very red-faded and as a result skin tones have suffered the most and are really garish and grey. However the stylized lighting scenes have been preserved pretty well.
rob's nostalgia projects has finally released all of this 35mm scans digitally which means I finally have access to his scan of 2001 A Space Odyssey. here's the mpaa card for those peeps (sadly the reels had no splices so no cue marks afaik)
updates from the dune home media vault found this random Brazilian DVD on a private tracker i got access to. I thought from the screenshots it was going to be the TV cut but instead it is the Theatrical cut in pan and scan. A first that I've seen
none that i recognize personally but I'm watching the first dub tonight (left first dub, right second dub)
Instead of using Universal Extended DVD master as is. The cut is entirely reconstructed using that master pan and scanned and elements from Japanese DVD for open matte elements. It is presented in two parts but is NOT the US broadcast version, Instead it is the "uncensored" JP LD/DVD composite.
Disc 2 contains the Extended TV Cut with only 2.0 English and Japanese subtitles. This disc is very very special however.
Disc 1 contains the Theatrical Cut Videowise: It uses the same transfer as Universal's 2010 USBD though with additional cleanup and better encoding. It looks great! In terms of audio: It has both Japanese dubs and 5.1 & 2.0 English.
the day is finally here! I finally own the Dune Happinet JPBD Box! The packaging here is utter gorgeous with some many nice details.
fixating on lynch dune again, heres english language edits of Ryoichi Ikegami's posters for the film
gotta love weirdly cropped and weirdly edited masters probably made for tv and then shat onto blu ray
friend of mine spent like 3 days downloading this. here's the brilliant "sleeper must awaken" scene, recorded off HBO in the early 90s. gn
downloaded it purely because the german bd copy has this really weird video error like 20 minutes in lol
For as incompetent as the extended TV cut of Dune seems to be (I haven't seen it in full yet). I do kind of like that they added music to the Baron's ascent. The theatrical mix feels a bit empty in comparison
