When I have knitted something other than socks for a while, I always forget how incredibly tiny my favourite #knitting needles are.

...Feel compelled to ask if you do skill swaps.... Or you know, could dip thru Bendigo Woolen Mills with you in mind, or start up the tube machine again. If it would make you less sad, that is.

A drop spindle and the yarns I spun this week. Been enjoying a sample pack with natural coloured sheep, and also I still have all that coloured merino my mother gave to me. It is far far too fluffy, but I spun another blue even so.

I don't do kits (why make someone elses picture?) but people often give me ends from theirs. I use them to embroider my own stuff. A friend of mine uses spare coloured threads to repair her clothes in contrasting stitches, very punk.

Yesterday that #ausalert came out, and I was away from my phone, so by the time I found my phone, it was over. No way to read the alert. Today, near 4pm, I get this message: It wasn't there at noon. More importantly, why didn't I get to read this yesterday? I have problems with this silly system.

I like this infographic very much. The other problem with counting wings is when the bees and the flies do the "look no wings" invisible wings trick when photographed (Not my photo, but this one is a good example). You can always start looking for the halteres, I guess....

Onya. All good, no worries. Take a Captains at this lot though! Took me a while to find this, but it's legit. Now, they're made by the Westies, and I'm New South Welsh, but still... There's a bloody LYE in lychee haha (yeah, that's right, Aussies can make beer out of any sodding thing!)

Matso's Lychee Beer has been a work in progress since 2009 when the breweryteam first decided to test brew this drop at their spiritual home in Broome. Master brewer Marcus Muller conducted many Lychee Beer test brews welcoming honest feedback from both Broome locals and travelling tourists. Not before long, everyone was wanting it bottled so they can take some home, and now they have. Lychee Beer is a delicious blended ale with some very nice subtle lychee fruit character coming through on the nose and palate. Highly refreshing and great on a hot day. If you are feeling a little bit adventurous match the beer with apple pie and whipped cream.

Thessa had an accident. She apparently tried to release herself from the coathanger for some time before revealing herself to me. It turns out laughing hysterically makes it really hard to explain to a scared cat that she has to stay still to be rescued from the coathanger of doom.

It is a hard thing to try to explain to students. Take any topic you personally know. Ask the chatbot hard questions about that topic. It will make errors & give false information (it does of course do that with every topic). But still people assume it is useful for things they do not know. Sigh.

I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it won't be just as bad for those.

Similarly, if your birthplace is actually destroyed - or in Arthur Dent's case demolished, ostensibly to make way for a new hyperspace bypass - then these tendrils are severed and flap about at random: there are no people to be fed or whales to be saved, there is no washing up to be done.
And these flapping tendrils of guilt can seriously disturb the space time continuum.

Wonka bars had a similar texture and flavour to Aldi chocolate hazelnut bars. You could likely try them to find out. No idea if they have the same manufacture and ingredients in the U.S. as to here though, probably completely different.

Aldi Choceur mini hazelnut creme bars, in blue wrapping. They're the British-style little individually wrapped 40g chocolate bars, like in a British book such as Swallows and Amazons. They come in many flavours, I like the hazelnut ones.

I did love real wagon wheels, full sized. They only sell mini wagon wheels these days, which somewhat defeat the purpose. The originals are a delightfully huge plate of chocolate coated biscuit, very generous. Aldi sold fullsized ones for a few days last year, I bought a whole box.

Here's where I csmped for the last 2 weeks. West and north of Sydney, but still in the Sydney Sandstone Basin area, far upstream of Broken Bay. The red cliffs are incredible around there.
