Baby orchid finally moved out! ちび蘭ちゃんはついに親元を離れました！

My moth orchid clone, detached from the parent orchid and planted in a white ceramic pot with a picture of a jumping rabbit on it. The orchid's leaves are deep green with reddish spots. Some of the roots are growing out of the pot and into the air.

Lulu, a fluffy tabby cat, is rolling around on her back on top of my desk and computer keyboard. She looks very happy and her tongue is sticking out. Bits of catnip are strewn about.

My moth orchid clone is making great progress with this new leaf! But it's also growing YET ANOTHER ROOT for some reason?? Stop doing that!

This is what the flowers look like when it blooms! They start darker colored and get paler over time. And they have a beautiful floral scent. Who could ask for a better orchid.

My favorite orchid's clone is finally making a third leaf instead of wasting time and energy making even more roots! Which means we are one step closer to finally detaching the clone from the parent plant!!!

Our first milkweed bud has flowered!

Many milkweed buds, which look like cool polygon cubes in various shades of green and pink. One has opened into a cool-looking pink flower with five petals.

My Japanese phal is growing a new leaf too. I've had both of these orchids for around two or three months and I'm so glad they're already settling in.

Moved my paph to a different window and it immediately started growing a new leaf!

I got some new pencils so I sketched Lee with them

Lee, a round chinchilla, sketched in light and dark blue pencils, with some red accents. He's holding a cookie in his mouth and looks pleased.

I figured out what happened... I repotted this orchid into a pot that has gold along the rim, and the gold heated up in the sun or reflected enough light that it burned the leaf! I put it into a different pot this morning. Sometimes I forget just how sensitive these plants can be.

The bright green leaf of a moth orchid. A small portion of the leaf has been burned and turned yellow. The orchid is in a pretty ceramic pot with a peacock design on it and gold around the rim of the pot. The leaf is burned right where it touches the gold on the pot.

Found a six-spotted tiger beetle this weekend and got close enough to take a few decent photos with my phone! These guys are FAST and they can really fly, which took me by surprise since I'm used to my pet beetles.

My moth orchid clone that refuses to grow a new leaf, and my orchid that I forget what it's called that is growing a new leaf. That second orchid was miserable wherever I put it for years but it finally seems happy now?

A hybrid moth orchid, growing a clone. The clone has two leaves that are almost as big as the parent plant's leaves. The clone is growing two long roots and one newer smaller root and has no signs of growing a new leaf. The parent plant has a long stem that needs to be trimmed.

An orchid with bright green leaves that look like tolumnia leaves and thick roots like a moth orchid's roots, in a terra cotta pot. This orchid has not thrived anywhere I put it, but I finally made it happy by putting it into a greenhouse inside of a bigger greenhouse.

It's way too hot today!

Fixed up some details on the stern today. Feels strange to still be working on stuff this late in the season!

Wow! I have definitely seen A. erythronii in trout lilies before, but I never realized they were trout lily specialists. That's amazing. I don't have any GOOD photos of them handy but this has gotta be that bee! Thanks so much for making me aware of this, I'll look for them more closely next year!
