Book of the week - For Blood and Soil: Far-Right Extremism in Canada by my friends and frequent co-authors @amaramarasingam.bsky.social & @stephaniecarvin.bsky.social. Great and unique analysis of the historical and current landscape of far-right extremism in Canada and of efforts to counter it.
Book of the week: For the Sun After Long Nights: The Story of Iran's Women-Led Uprising (Fatemeh Jamalpour & @ntabrizy.bsky.social). Great book on the popular protests in Iran after the killing of Mahsa Amini, weaving personal stories, history, politics, and the pain of exile. A must-read on Iran.
Very happy to see the paper version of my new article on how regional wars since October 2023 have reshaped Iran-Houthi ties in the most recent edition of the Middle East Journal. Let me know if you want a PDF. @chmenap.bsky.social

RIP Marjane Satrapi, 1969-2026 For many years, I assigned Persepolis by Satrapi in a fourth year undergraduate seminar I teach on Iran. A brilliant, nuanced, touching, funny graphic novel about her life in Iran, the revolution & exile, it was always much appreciated by students.
Book of the week: a wonderful novel by Iraqi author Inaam Kachachi, The American Granddaughter. Really well written, with a unique style. Great story on exile and conflicted, complex relations with the country of origin.
