We started at 4th worst today, move to 3rd, and now in 2nd place for worst air quality IN THE WORLD.

Can't find an air filter? all sold out? you can make and effective and relatively cheap but effective one with a few parts, some of which you might already have! presenting the Corsi-Rosenthal box...
So if you are in need of an air filter and everything is sold out, you can make one by kludging a few things together for a “Corsi-Rosenthal” air filter.
Expect high Chicagoland ozone smog levels today and wildfire smoke particles tomorrow. Pics show Midwest wildfire smoke situation now & midnight late tomorrow. Stay cool/hydrated, follow your medical professionals advice & use your HEPA air filter and/or N95/KN94 face masks to redude your exposure.
Air quality just hit the red zone - unhealthy for everyone, not just sensitive groups: children, elders, people w/lung disease, etc. Be careful, don't push it, hcarry meds, hydrate, etc. Tomorrow likely bad & could see Canadian smoke Thurs too. Stay informed, take prudent precautions.

Here we go again. Yesterday air quality was pretty bad. Rain helped today, but Saturday 6/6 again predicted to be Orange/Unhealthy. Protect yourself, carry needed medication, follow your doctors advice if you have lung/heart disease.

Yesterday the U.S. Senate shot down a Democratic-led attempt to stop the Trump admin. from loosening power plant brain-damaging mercury emissions standards. S.J. Res. 188, failed to advance 46-53 along party lines. All Democrats voted in favor of advancing and all Republicans against. #fishing

FYI - IDEM forecast an Air Quality Action Day (AQAD) for Wed, May 27, 2026 for NW Indiana. Ozone levels are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range (Orange) in the following area: Crown Point, Gary, Hammond, LaPorte, Michigan City, Portage & all other cities within NW IN region.
