Back to mini painting after a long break, starting with Marvel United’s Strong Guy.
I haven’t painted in a while and season 2 of X-men ‘97 has me feeling inspired: time to start on a new batch of Marvel United minis!
Got some more dice I clearly *needed* at Montreal Comic-Con. The eyeballs inside the Misty Mountain set roll!
(2/4) I’ve run it for both veterans and folks new to the hobby with consistently positive reactions. The default setting is quirky and lighthearted (check out this playable race, the Bunbun!) but it works fine with pretty much any fantasy setting from cheerful to grimdark.
Continuing to slowly expand my collection of ye olde D&D editions. Can I stop now or do I need the rest of BECMI? My heart says keep going but my wallet and shelf space say stop.
Finally got my physical cartridges for two *modern* C64 games, Griffinsoft’s Musketeer and Sherwood, and now playing them on my C64 Ultimate. Such a cool retro experience. :)
Should I be concerned that my fortune cookie is trying to convince me the ends justify the means?
Just finished Twelve Months, the new Dresden Files book. That was delightful, and I love how different it was in structure from the rest of the series. And wow, he got me with a cool obvious-in-hindsight lore reveal that I never suspected over 17 books.
Pre-scheduled power outage in my town tonight. Not good news for the contents of my fridge, but the PERFECT excuse for candlelight reading of my beautiful new Dolmenwood books. :D
My hard copies of MCDM’s Draw Steel arrived this week. Gotta say I’m really pleased with the quality of the print and binding—good stuff!
Don’t worry, my dinner plans are well balanced, with both food groups represented.
And that’s a wrap on “Against the Ogre Horde,” probably the last of my Hero Quest mini painting. It’s been fun. :)
Finally, the two Druids and their wolf companion. This concludes the “Against the Against the Ogre Horde” HQ expansion.
Next up: orc archers! I am alllllmost done with Hero Quest minis now. Just one batch left.
Haven’t done any mini painting in quite a while. This weekend we’re back, with Hero Quest ogres!
Time to eat a personal pan pizza and watch a Superman movie, because I am forever 12. :)
Me, who finished a 6+ year D&D campaign on Wednesday: “Oh man, I need a nice long break from DMing now. Maybe even from playing…” Also me: “OOH, what is thiiiiis?”
My nostalgiafest continues, now by hunting down some classic issues of CGW. Gotta love this issue, which features both the 1st gold box game and an interview with @richardgarriott.bsky.social. :)

AI may end up destroying our economy, our way of life, or perhaps humanity as a whole. But I must admit it’s really good for quickly making nice-looking handouts for D&D that roughly match what you had in mind.
Whew. I’ve finally beaten Daggerfall. Returning to Tamriel via the Unity version nearly *30 years* after I played the original game has been quite an experience. I don’t think I even made it halfway through the main story as a kid.
