Before I can paint, I have to transfer the drawing to watercolor paper by hand. Once that’s done, I go over the entire image again, making sure all the lines match up and making sure I can see every line. After it’s all set and done, it’s been 4 hours and I have the base to start painting tomorrow.
It’s slow going, but magic takes time ✨ I spent years racing through my paintings - all to meet the demands I thought the world was putting upon me. Naturally, it burnt me out. Today, painting is a sanctuary that I relish — a quiet place to let my thoughts steep and simply exist in the moment.
🍄Beginning sprouts of a new painting, I think my favorite part so far is his little twisted beard - can you guess the animated movie reference that inspired it?
🍓I was nervous painting this because I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get all the details in. I mean ~ I love adding details ~ but I felt like I had met my match with this one 😅 🍓 I pulled out my tiniest brushes and held my breath. I think I pulled it off, what do you think?
🌱Working on something new! I love all her little arms ~ lovely little strawberry fairy moth. If you’ve ever wondered how to grow the sweetest of strawberries, you gotta lure her with sweetened milk for at least 5 days in a row so she’ll stay around to tend to your garden.
