Oh, we know why — it’s because he is telling the truth. This is a totally unexceptional poll of Israeli public opinion btw
Right, my mistake. That answer is fine but I think it's missing an opportunity. Because I disagree with you about what the average American understands about 9/11. Here's a Pew poll from 2004. A majority of Democrats and 45% of independents *already* understood American foreign policy's role.
Folks like this, I don’t understand. Piker wasn’t a Platner defender. If anything, he spent significant time defending his critics and accusers from skeptics. Do we just need someone to stab at? Is that how we’re defending our values?
I don't know for sure when the site changed. But I do know that between these two times, Democratic Socialist Melat Kiros pulled ahead of longtime Rep. Diana DeGette. Did the answer to the Times' question become distasteful for its editorial staff? Does the Times owe voters more than open hostility?
At 9pm, the @nytimes.com asked of today's CO primaries, "Will Left-Wing Energy Keep Rising?" By 11, the front page's only mention of the CO primaries could be found more than 3000 pixels from the top, sans familiar "2026" graphic, without mention of the night's marquee left-vs-liberal contest.
CM Sandy Nurse (@cmsandynurse.bsky.social) says ICE has been spotted in Bushwick the last few days. She thinks they are starting to ramp up again. Advises to use caution, spread the word, contact her office if you need support www.instagram.com/reel/DaGouxi...
You just posted that from your other account. No, because it wasn't one by any definition. Go find a hobby
Lmao. Yeah I don’t think Trump’s DOJ’s political prosecutions are going to become much more of a threat, beyond their ability to muddy the waters and add friction to the lives of their targets. It’s such a joke.
Watching Round 20 of Every Unprincipled Jerk With An Iota Of Power vs. Hasan Piker and as galling as it still is, the way people w/ power keep taking the invitation to show their whole ass is p great. They assume *so much* power to dictate access to credibility & voice. And it's all now just vapors.
@nytimes.com stop disabling comments on articles about atrocities being done by Israelis challenge DIFFICULTY: IMPOSSIBLE
Nobody remembers that 6 years before Fallout 1 introduced Pip-Boy, Commander Keen had the ComputerWrist
I don’t think we have the language to even talk about what this is, what this country has just done. Israel and the US just cut off Iranian society not at the head but, it seems, somewhere further down the torso. I feel almost body horror feelings at the thought. A staggeringly brutal act.
Don't look now but fucking Third Way is back to pour millions of dollars into gaslighting everyone with centrist moderation fallacies www.nytimes.com/2026/03/02/u...
CNN polling is both reassuring (60% against, so no real rally round the flag effect, very little wagging re: the dog) and appalling (40% of people don’t understand that this is happening completely without a plan or strategy or win condition). Imagine being so deluded about our situation. Yikes.
I feel like I can tell you the EXACT conversation that Trump and Netanyahu had about this. "It's working really well for me Donald, you'll be able to force everyone to get behind you."
Is it just me or does "explosions reported over Tehran" not quite capture what appears to be an attempt at mass assassinations of Iran's leaders
Comments are not active on the story, of course, so nobody can point out, where the Times' readers can see, these 3 graphs: the acknowledgement that the Israeli state was an active part of this crime, the token request for comment, & then an immediate abandonment, reverting back to "settlers".
Then we've got "dur, cut spending" bozos like these, most of whom seem to hail from very non-NYC places. I would simply make line go down! WHY DOESN'T ANYONE THINK ABOUT THIS BRILLIANT IDEA?
And then there's this genre of comment, where people just vomit out their entire supply of anti-communist bullshit, casting him as a liar and cult of personality with a plan to take over the country (despite not being eligible to run for President, Dav from TORONTO.)
A few comments down, we get the first one of these -- blaming Mamdani for the budget crisis because socialist. Even though he has added nothing unfunded to the budget at all. Just totally meritless -- uninformed and unserious. Oh and this was his plan all along, because he hates people who own stuff
In the top comment, somebody who claims to pay $12k/year in property taxes complains that *because ACA subsidies have been withdrawn*, she can't afford to pay any more property tax, and would you please stop giving people free stuff please? Also, fuck him for being 30-something! & a public servant!
I sense a shift, amidst this moment, back towards once again broadcasting protesters without a lot of discretion, and although I’m wary, I’m not judging it particularly hard. In this moment, the stakes are so high, and the cops have cameras too. But at least be wary what you show to the Eye.
There's a clip of Alex Pretti being assaulted by ICE after expressing anger (from days prior to his murder) that somebody gave to the Daily Mail, and it's an important reminder that filming police at protests can be used against us if we are not judicious about what we share and with whom.
We should talk more about how capitalism makes adulthood of all kinds seem boring and undesirable, instead of exciting and motivating. In our case it's like, you too can grow up to be your stressed about nonsense programmer dad or overworked and underappreciated teacher mom.
