Sweeping leaves this morning, this person came to join me. We had a lovely chat as they followed me around, finding tasty delights I was leaving behind.
EJ Swift’s “When There Are Wolves Again” is as beautiful and brilliant a piece of climate literature as I’ve ever read. And I’ve read a lot. It’s also a real a telling of what it feels like to be an activist in a broken and breaking world as I’ve read. I felt very seen. Do read it.
I was lucky enough to get to watch a gorgeous little flame robin playing in the trees up on O’Connor Ridge today. Check it out mid-dive on the third photo!
Back on Ngarigo country, my favourite place. So ridiculously warm for mid winter, with not much snow for the snow gums. But still just stunningly beautiful. Good for the soul.
Jillian Segal is absolutely living up to her role as Antisemitism Envoy. Every time she says something like this, she increases antisemitism in Australia. I'm sorry, I have to be facetious about this or I will cry scream. Our community used to be respected. This makes us at best a laughing stock.
This rather unassuming photo marks a truly historic occasion! ACT Greens members are currently voting in the first full membership ballot for the leadership of a Greens party in Australia, with a contested ballot. And we’ve got a real contest of ideas and approaches. Democracy in action! 💚🌎
Happy 100th birthday to our deeply beloved Oma. Gone ten years now and missed every day. I’m so grateful for her incredible love and strength and wisdom.
Don’t worry, I’m not planning on cooking a succulent Beef Wellington, but can any of my(celium) clever friends identify these fun guys growing in my front yard? There’s not mushroom for error.
Who else LOVED Barbapapa?! This was absolutely one of the most important books of my childhood. Now I wove it into some thinking about Audre Lorde's "the master's house" and Vanessa Andreotti's "house of modernity", and I'd love it if you'd read it. in-between-days.ghost.io/renovating-t...
Fabulous to see Not Drowning Waving again, after all these years! Playing lots of songs off Tabaran and Claim, as well as the new record.
Thank you, Sir David Attenborough, for your love of the world, and for sharing it with us for 100 years. This letter is one of my most treasured possessions. I sent him my book when it came out, with a letter of gratitude, and he replied! Happy birthday!
In today’s other fabulous news, the spotted pardalotes are back in my garden! This is a photo from two years ago - couldn’t get one this morning. They’re too speedy!
This coming Thursday evening, I’m running a session for the Degrowth Network Australia on Direct Action as a path to Degrowth (and broad economic, social and political transformation) Register here: events.humanitix.com/strategy-wor...

BREAKING: gouging out your eyes with a rusty fork could reduce glaucoma risk - but it could come at a cost
The world is a fiery mess, and my heart breaks But my partner & I spent much of this week deeply immersed in nature, making friends furry, scaley & leafy, skinny dipping in rivers & bays & ocean, and the grief subsides. If more of us got our kit off and jumped in the water, the world would improve

What the everloving fuck is this They wonder why people think government is a sick joke Nah, we won't stop funding fossil fuels, or stop gambling ads, or regulate AI. We'll do an unworkable and idiotic social media ban for kids... Oh and here's a pile of cash for private equity because Tim Tams.
This is a hugely famous public figure. I absolutely could not have told you it was him, even while reading the article. In fact, despite the caption, I’m not sure I believe it. What’s going on?
Who’re you calling slow? I’ve got two pieces I’ve been working on for a while almost ready to go up on the blog/letter: “On the necessity and limits of left populism” and “ACAB includes (climate) COPs”. Subscribe here to get them in your inbox: in-between-days.ghost.io
31% of Jewish New Yorkers voted for Mamdani. To me, this says the absolute dominance of Zionism in the diaspora has broken. As New York goes, the rest of the diaspora follows. This is massive.
