Very interesting. I was trying to find more in this book, lot on Stokes, but unfortunately not a word on fluorescence. Not a topic in the book.😩

Done. Read this in German, English title is Fateful hours. Everyone with a little interest in history and our current society should read this. Brilliant.
Stretching it a bit, but Banville’s Quirke series is good (so are his other books by the way) and stretching it even further, I enjoyed reading this:
Finished Kit Chapman’s The Age of Alchemy. Well written; even if the author cuts a few corners here and there and cannot resist trying to be funny in his footnotes. The book places the development of chemistry in a historic context. Excellent introduction after which one could read Lawrence Principe
I am using the day off to reorganise my bookshelves. I get distracted all the time because I start reading. Hope to finish the reorg before I have to travel Sunday…
