Mmm…no. There was only one Unity Tour and it went off four years ago (after a two year delay).
Jury duty. Again. And instead of having to listen to the same godawful Billy Crystal-Bette Midler flick for the fourth consecutive visit, I’ve snuck off to the quiet room to plow through some of the digital TBR pile. Finishing the most recent antho by @rhppress.bsky.social.
Local legend power-poppers The Greenberry Woods. This song was on a Sire label comp back when label comps were a) still a thing and b) cool. The title of that particular comp was Just Say Roe, because for a brief period in the ‘90’s there were still a few corporate entities that were okay folks.
Good god. If this was meat that I had in the fridge, I wouldn’t even need to give it the smell test. Straight in the outside bin with it before it has a chance to stink up the joint.
Of all the things I’ll miss, it’ll be those cuts to drummer Joe Saylor on the intros that I’ll miss the most.
David Byrne at the Hippodrome tonight describing the arc of season three of The Wire. He also performed music, which was great.
Shit, I was hoping to get some more mileage out of this sign. Oh well.
I like to imagine that he and Eli Wallach had a competition going when they shot The Sentinel—who could rock the most ridiculous necktie. Pretty sure it ended in a draw.
Tremours at that Baltimore Soundstage last night. (That’s Tremours with a U. Not to be confused with the movie starring Kevin Bacoun.)
Caught this in the theater my senior year of high school right around the same time Seven (or is it pronounced 7even?) came out, which I caught a week or two later. Launched Edward Norton’s career, and I don’t even think he remembers this one.
RIP Sly Dunbar, who follows his production partner Robbie Shakespeare.
RIP Uncle Floyd, an absolute Jersey legend. Looking forward to visiting the rest stop they’ll name for him.
Is it just me or does it seem that every time we lose a famous Flo this year, one of those much-ballyhooed conservatives of influence follows in quick succession? Can’t help but wonder who the next Flomen will be. (Okay, okay, I’ll see myself out.)
First trick-or-treater of the year. No costume though. And not only that, the little brat keeps coming back for more.
