My current fav vegetarian meal on a cold night: - buttered rice - "dry" mung dal - brussels sprouts w/ balsamic vinegar
Mile 9.7. Back in familiar territory. This was part of my red top mtn route. I can pretty much tuck away the directions from here.
Lunch for breakfast. I've actually made some halfway decent meals in my room over the trip. Just dont want to mess with it this morning. Want to get home!
Mile 48.0. Got to my motel at 3pm. Surprisingly, calhoun seems to have a large refugee population. And i picked up a somewhat progressive vibe on the way in. Which is not to say it's a prog. town but there is a foothold.
Mike 43.1. Tried to update at lunch but no signal. Pretty tough going today. A lot more and steeper hills than expected. Also had to take a 2 mi detour as one road was closed. This is the oostanaula river and i'm about 4 mi from today's destination.
Ok, that was short and strenuous. Yep, level 3. Btw, forgot to mention, i think i saw a bobcat cross the road earlier - large muscular cat with about a 3" tail, walking awkwardly across the pavement.
Mile 10 7. About to go over this ridge. It's about a 0.8 mi climb but i believe a 10% grade so prolly need to bump the assist to level 3. We'll see. Started about 9:30 this morning and glad to leave the roach motel behind.
Spotted on the way home from dinner. This is how you know you're deep inside MAGA country. Lot of trump yard signs and flags too. Also MTG territory too.
Update: came down signal mtn this morning - hopefully got some good video - quick lunch in downtown chatt, been following the riverfront greenway trail which is about 10 mi long.
After a couple days of resting and relaxing it's time to begin the journey back home. Taking a different route back: o- Walden Peak -> Chickamauga, Sun -> Calhoun, Mon -> Acworth, Tue -o Home on Wed evening 9/18 The weather's looking good for the next few days and I'm grateful for that.
