What are your top 4 comfort characters? Here’s mine!
I've ALWAYS hated how the term "fanfiction" is used derogatorily. I get it, there's over a million poorly written fanworks out there. However, it's unfair to imply that there are no good fanfics period. For that, I think I'll take a moment to boost some of my favorite fan stories in recent memory.
My Favorite -Cartoon Network Show (torn between this and Adventure Time) -Nickelodeon Show (torn between this, Avatar, and Danny Phantom) -Disney Show
"We love Wii games in this house! Post some of your favorite Wii games." My first ever home console, to boot. So many great memories.
Post a movie you like that a lot of people hate. (It's a HUGE guilty pleasure)
As I've said before, this is why I support queer representation that shows the uglier parts of the community (e.g., abusers, predators, bigots, etc.). It's actually the reason I like Valentino from Hazbin; as one person said, he sends a reminder that queer people can be just as toxic as straights.
I've noticed the past few years that some folks seem to believe queer people can do no wrong, likely in an effort to undo harmful stereotyping. Commendable but it's starting to turn into an overcorrection. When Abel was confirmed to be hetero, people got upset, claiming he's "too sweet" to be so.
This fellow from a Discord server I'm in summed it up nicely.
To be honest, this is the reason why I appreciate the Hellaverse's queer representation. Even putting aside the fact that a good majority of the characters are flawed or even outright toxic people, many of them suffer abuse at the hands of OTHER queer folks, intentionally or otherwise.
The thing about the Disney in-house CGI style is that they need to start experimenting with it more, similar to what they would do with their traditionally animated features. The early 2000s is a good example, as most (keyword: "most") of their movies had more angularity in the character designs.
This is the money Marge. Reskeet for good fortune💰
Literally the only reason I know of this character's existence is because of his appearance in this Jimmy Davis video.
Depends on one's definition of "problematic" but off the top of my head:
Honestly, this is a big reason why I like Ellie from "The Last of Us." She's a lesbian but the games make it clear she is absolutely NOT immune from the harsh realities of life -- much less a post-apocalyptic life -- and is one of many who DON'T get an explicitly happy ending.
I think this one YouTube comment from @fionapollo.bsky.social's "Why Indie Animation Dialogue Is Like That" video sums it up well lol
Here's this bitch using the f-slur so in case anyone has any doubts.
Ah yeah, buncha guys killin' each other. Dancin' around killin' each other.
That's a little surprising. www.idrlabs.com/neon-genesis...
Putting aside the fact that I'm an ass man, I LOVE the rendering on her bikini bottom. The wedgie actually looks (and feels) believable.
