Ultimate cause: tracking down dog statues from the list of individual dogs (Here’s Balto, supposedly)
The dream outcome would be if the atoms could slowly form a stable, coherent knowledge structure upon which we could apply an inference engine to tell us all the new things that are True and Correct that we didn’t already know about (Gödel? Who’s Gödel? Never heard of him).
