This explains why this term is one I’m familiar with and heard often at home and later at work. I’m the child of parents born in the early 30’s and in military and college in the 50’s. “86 that” meant never mind or forget about whatever to me growing up , never heard it used as slang for killing.

Shift to Verb Usage

In the 1950s the word underwent some functional shift, and began to be used as a verb. The initial meaning as a verb was “to refuse to serve a customer,” and later took on the slightly extended meaning of “to get rid of; to throw out.” The word was especially used in reference to refusing further bar service to inebriates.

Ukraine is smaller geographically than Iran and has about 1/3 of the population of Iran. Russia has not been able to conquer Ukraine. The losses are huge. It’s not easy to invade a country. Is this what Trump is getting the USA into?
