Mid-July is usually the time we see Kingfishers right down the Aln Estuary. Yesterday, right of cue, I saw my first of the year.
Curlew numbers are building on the Aln Estuary, and surrounds with ‘wintering’ birds arriving from their northern breeding grounds. Quite often you can hear their iconic calls echo across the estuary.
Squadrons of Swifts are screaming and 'swiftly' scudding through our local skies prior to setting off on their return migration to Africa.
Looks like Linnets have had a good breeding season around Alnmouth as there is a flock approaching 150 birds at Buston Links. #nebirding
