Edinburgh based Partick Thistle fan. Member of the anti-growth coalition. I like football, beer, books, & active travel. Trillionaire, for what that label is worth.
A very wide 30mph suburban road with a downhill sweeping curve, fitted with Armco barriers because, as the damaged barriers show, it's really dangerous due to speeding. @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social No room for a protected cycle lane. No. Absolutely not. Too dangerous.
Some very good teasel action in the wild part of our garden (about 3m² total). It's just about to turn purple...
Checking up on my plants before retiring indoors. Colin Courgette is a couple of days from harvest, and Brian Broccoli (né Cesare Calabrese) is motoring along nicely.
Spotted this new(ish) business on Dundas Street. Looks interesting. I might leave my Edinburgh Voice with them next time I go to Glasgow to see The Harry Wraggs at The Palace o' the Gallus. 😉
Partick Thistle's emphatic four nil win last night has broken a hoodoo. Yesterday I forgot to drink my coffee from the striped mug and it had no effect on the result. I'm now free to use my Winnie the Pooh mug on matchdays.
The weather in Edinburgh today is quite something. Soft mist, but quite warm, and still as a grave. Not at all like a spring or autumn haar.
Up and out already. Warm at 7.20am. Those poor people in the South who have had this for what seems like weeks.
I see that St Mirren's away kit by Macron is almost identical to the Inverness one shown here. It would be a hoot if Partick Thistle's was the same template but reversed.
I don't normally diss other football teams too much but is it just me or is Danny Devine wearing Inverness Caley Thistle jimjams?
For those wondering about FIFA and corruption, this book was a decent primer. Lots of questions, but no answers about how we fix FIFA.
Yesterday I reached the grand old age of 65. I never thought I'd get this far. I developed #Type1 diabetes at the age of 17, eight years after my Type 1 dad died of a cardiac arrest aged 45. At the time, I felt so ill that I thought I had a terminal illness, and the diagnosis was a relief. 1/5
Households all over Europe have this week been asking themselves how long they can leave spreadable butter out of the fridge before it fully liquifies.
My stuttering reading habits only need a really good book to get me going like a steam train. I've devoured this over the last two days in various places around the house and garden.
I planted a few teasels around the garden last year, and they are now doing their thing, producing lovely spiky blooms on tall waving stalks. Hopefully we'll see some goldfinch action later in the summer.
We decided to have some boiled potatoes tonight but only had two supermarket new potatoes left. So I had another fumble and found enough home grown without lifting the shaws. It's now possible to see how nice they look...
Our outdoor temperature sensor for the heating system is showing it's only 18.5° in Edinburgh. No AC needed here.
We have a great crop of clover right now on our back "lawn". The bees love it, so no mowing for a while. I think this is a carder bee.
Our grandchild had fish fingers for tea recently, and I quite fancied some. My OH went shopping and I asked her to get some, "but good ones". Well. She has played a blinder.
After a brief fumble under one of my tattie shaws I pulled this one out to see how they are going. It's a good size for a new potato but I think I'll leave them in the ground for at least another week. The variety is Red Duke of York.
