one night recently i was cooking and a tiny piece of angel hair pasta fall onto the floor. i couldn't immediately find it and wanted to eat while the food was hot, so i didn't come back to clean the floor until later. i wasn't expecting the now-dried bit of pasta on the floor would hold a message

not the fold over appliance, just this little guy! i felt so bold last week when i placed this in the buttered cast iron pan as it pre-heated. then when i placed the press on the sandwich, the sandwich was getting a tiny bit of heat from above too (not sure if i was meant to do that but it worked?)

a stainless steel sandwich press (aka burger press) on a kitchen counter. it's a gadget to put on top of sandwich while the sandwich cooks, to compress it. also more cheese oozes out the side of the sandwich and does that crispy cheese-on-pan thing.

it's a YA book. her job during the narrative arc is caretaking for someone ill. deeply ironic, man. that's already my job. except mine is 24/7/365, no vacation, no holidays, no personal days, no sick days (if sick days means time off), and the kicker: quitting is prevented by metaphysics.
