Can some combination of the knitting community and the Japanese language community on here help me figure out this diagram? I can’t figure out what the number sequences mean (eg 3-1-3). I know they’re about the decrease rate, I just don’t know how

This part really sums it up for me, and why I’m so frustrated with a lot of the coverage of this Ebola outbreak (and the Hantavirus one).

The destruction of USAID will make it harder to control this Ebola outbreak, but it’s also a contributing factor to why this outbreak got so bad in the first place. I’m surprised we aren’t seeing this take more. Destroying USAID led to this.

Amid the cuts, the work of Ebola response teams was frozen, according to a person who worked on the ground in the region. Programs designed to detect Ebola cases, alert communities to infection, and dispatch response kits had their funding reduced or eliminated.

Related efforts that would have been likely to aid the outbreak response — including building medical stockpiles and supporting local health systems — have been weakened by the cuts, according to four people who work on infectious disease control in the DRC. Aid groups that carried out that work laid off staff in response to funding reductions and are still working with reduced headcounts, they said.

I was given the task “send birthday cards to my friend’s grandma so she gets 90 for her 90th birthday and I did my job but I did only have dungeons and dragons stamps. At least they coordinate with the envelopes

I make this cake once a year because it’s such a pain in the ass, but it’s also one of the best recipes I have. A dead-iversary gift from me to the world.

A 13x9 pan with a chocolate chip and cinnamon sugar covered cake with a few squares cut out.

A recipe for what my family inexplicably calls Booger Cake.

¼ pound margarine (1 stick)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
2 cup flour
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
6 oz chocolate chips.
For cinnamon sugar: ½ cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon
Mix all ingredients except chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar.
Place ½ in bottom of a 13x9" greased pan. Sprinkle ½ of chocolate chips and ½ of
cinnamon sugar. Spread remaining batter over top (tip: use a clean spatula
to spread second half of batter so it spreads easier). Sprinkle rest of
chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar.
Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes ish
