A very warm welcome back
to Vicarage Road, for our
final pre-season fixture of
the 1994 close season.
We would like to extend a
welcome to our visitors this after-
noon, the directors, manage-
ment, players, staff and support-
ers of our north London neigh-
bours, Tottenham Hotspur,
and of course to former Hornets'
manager Steve Perryman.
A big thank you to all the
Watford fans who have travelled
to our other friendly games dur-
ing the summer and given such
tremendous support.
Don't forget that the 1994/95
season starts in earnest on
Saturday August 13 1994.
Our opening fixture in the
Endsleigh Insurance League
Division One takes us north to
Sheffield United, kick-off
3.00pm. Full ticket and travel
details can be found on the back
page of this programme.
Our first home game takes
place the following week, on
Saturday August 20, when
Grimsby Town are our visitors
at Vicarage Road - kick-off
3.00pm (please note that the
lower tier of the Sir Stanley
Rous Stand will be allocated to
visiting supporters for this sea-
son).

KEVIN SCOTT: Joined Tottenham from Newcastle
GOALKEEPERS
ERIK THORSTVEDT: Signed for Spurs in
December 1988, after a trial period four years earli-
er. Norwegian international, born in Stavanger, his
career has taken in Eik Tonsberg, Viking
Stavanger, Borussia Moenchengladbach and IFK
Gothenberg. He also had trials with QPR in 1984
and Arsenal in 1987.
IAN WALKER: Watford-born England under-21
international and a former pupil of the FA National
School of Excellence at Lilleshall. Holder of England
caps at youth and under-19 levels. Son of former
Watford 'keeper Mike Walker.
CHRIS DAY: Signed professional in April 1993, hav-
ing completed two years as a trainee with Spurs. An
England youth international, he has yet to make his
senior debut.
DEFENDERS
DEAN AUSTIN: Born in Hemel Hempstead and
made 23 appearances in Watford's youth team as a
schoolboy, during the 1987/88 season. He then
joined St Albans City and in March 1990, he moved
to Southend United and later signed for Spurs in
May 1993
GARY MABBUTT: Club captain and former appren-
tice with Bristol Rovers. Joined Spurs in August 1982
and he has since earned international caps with
England at youth, under-21, B and senior levels
Skippered Tottenham to their FA Cup Final win in
1991 and won a UEFA Cup winners medal in 1984
Awarded the MBE in 1994
STUART NETHERCOTT: A former associated
schoolboy with Arsenal but he served his two-year
traineeship with Tottenham, signing professional
forms in May 1991. Spent loan periods with
Maidstone United and Barnet. A member of Spurs'
FA Youth Cup-winning side in 1990 and an England
under-21 cap
COLIN CALDERWOOD: Became Ossie Ardiles' first
signing, with his transfer from Swindon Town in July
1993. Born in Glasgow, his career began as an
apprentice with Mansfield Town in May 1981, later
signing professional in March 1982. Moved to the
County Ground in June 1985 and recorded 409
senior appearances for the Robins.
PAUL MAHORN: Another former trainee with
Spurs, who joined the professional ranks in February
1992. Equally at home in defence or attack, Paul has
spent loan spells with Fulham and Port Vale
STEPHEN CARR: Signed as a trainee at White Hart
Lane in the summer of 1992 and moved up to pro-
fessional status in September 1993. A Republic of
Ireland youth and schoolboy international, he has
also been selected for their under-21 side.
DAVID KERSLAKE: Signed from Leeds United in
September 1993. He has previously served OPR and
Swindon Town. Holder of a Football League Division
Two play-off winners medal and a former England
youth and under-21 international.
United in February 1994. A former apprentice with
Newcastle and it was with the Magpies that he col
lected a Football League Division One Championship
medal in 1993.

DARREN CASKEY: A former pupil of the FA
National School of Excellence at Lilleshall
and yet
another product of Tottenham's youth scheme
Elevated to professional status in February 1992 am
holder of England caps at schoolboy and youth lev
els. Captained England to the World Youth Sup, last
summer
DAVID HOWELLS: Progressed through the youth
ranks at Spurs, signing professional in January 1985
Capped by England at under-19/20 and youth levels
and an FA Cup winner in 1991
DANNY HILL: Another former pupil of the FA
School of Excellence and an England youth and
schoolboy cap. Joined Tottenhams senior tanks
towards the end of 1993.
SOL CAMPBELL: A former Tottenham trainee and
pupil at the FA School of Excellent out ir
Newham and represented his district as a schoolboy,
as well as gaining honours with England at school-
boy, youth and under-21 levels
JASON DOZELL: Signed from Ipswich Town a year
ago, in a £1.75-million deal. Made a scoring League
debut for Ipswich while still at school, in Feeruary
1984. Capped by England at under-21 and youth
levels and won a Second Division Championship
medal whilst at Portman Road
FORWARDS
DARREN ANDERTON: Moved to White Hart Lane
trom Portsmouth in June 1992. Born in
Southampton, he joined Pompey as a trainee in
1988, signing professional forms in February 1990
