A foul mouthed cook who also writes on the side. Nerdy interests includes fountain pens, TTRPGs, sailing, natural sciences, & rocks. Dogmom to a spoilt corgi, Asami. Austin the lab 2010-2024 💔 She/her
I've been baking for almost 2 hours with the front door wide open and that's as far as she's wandered. I think she's pouting and watching for my partner.
Just my 72 year old sailboat on an island all to myself. State parks are such an invaluable resource for frugal boaters. My annual moorage pass has already paid for itself this year and I've barely made it out to the islands. Bonus corgi for scale.
My partner and I have shortened this scene and now find creative ways to say "Corn!" in conversation. Sometimes we'll be driving past a field and one of us will just blurt it out. The other is obliged to giggle. Because it's not different at all, is it Steve!?!
I picked strawberries yesterday morning and have decided that girl dinner is fresh strawberries and whipped cream, and none of that canned shit.
We got hull number 4. She's a solid old girl. We got her for a steal and she's been a great intermediate boat until we upsize in a year or so.
BBQ and pizza are the two best American foods and today's meal is both. I made everything. Dough, ribs, hell even the BBQ sauce.
My 11 year old dog just proved old dogs can learn new tricks. In 5 days she went from whining to chill when we had to dinghy her to shore for potty breaks while sailing. Boat life here I come
I've taught myself via a book and a couple videos how to splice rope and this is how neat my work is starting to look. I'm just really happy with the improvement I've been making
Asami was an absolute champ on her first ever sail today. If the rest of the summer goes this well she's going to be a proper boat dog in no time.
Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, wa. I didn't capture the feeling and framing quite right, but the crows were fun.
We found a fantastic secondhand yard of all things sailboat. We needed a jib since the Genoa was way overpowering our little Ericson 27 and buying new was way too expensive. It was like a damn candy store.
I'm a white cloud, which boo for interesting things to do while on shift but yay for being able to get some writing done on the clock. I've been in a depressive funk lately so being able to get shit done has felt good.
One footstool was not enough for Asami, she had hog both during girl's craft day
Pie! No picture of the quiche because it always looks meh in photos if it's a slice. The lemon was good as always, and it was fun to experiment with a new flavor.
My dog is annoyed we temporarily moved the foam bag out of the library and she can't properly see out the window. She's even surrounded by all her toys and still isn't satisfied.
I got this one 15 years ago during my undergrad field camp. 48 is for 1848 when both UW Madison and the state were founded. Even though I never did manage to get a job that actually used my degree, it's my own fun little nod to my geology degree.
I wasn't excited about my book so I switched to musicals. I'm also not happy with the temp of the chocolate frosting, it needs to be a tad bit warmer to pipe nicely. To kill time I'm enjoying a sacrificial test cupcake to the tune of Chicago.
Not pictured, a batch of cupcakes that were absolutely fucked and I had to toss them.
I volunteer in a rural fire department that is getting flooded and we've been busting ass to prepare all day. I've changed into my structure boots in hopes of them doing a better job keeping my feet dry.
Not to brag, but my number 1 enabler just invited me on a date to get more fountain pen ink next week
