Lover of transit, city design & planning, housing and hoping to make a difference. Life should be easy for everyone to get around and enjoy. Dream big we can do it! #boston #trains #bikes #bus #housing #massachusetts
#franklinpark was never intended to be a golf course. It was supposed to be a huge chunk of land put aside for the public to use. Its time we take it back. There are 7 other golf courses within a 10 mile radius. We don't need one in the center of Boston.
How do we heal the Franklin park scars we've created? Slicing it in half with a road, building a golf course on public land that a tiny fraction of people utilize, ripping out trains that brought people there safely, and easily. It hurt the entire community www.trainsbikesbus.com/franklin-par...
In this article I've put together all kinds of interactivity. Housing Yield calculators that show comparative projects from around the world, revenue, energy generation, jobs, units...the calculator alone is worth a look. Ideas for every season & the benefits www.trainsbikesbus.com/franklin-par...
this is crazy. This isn't even a tall building, how in the heck is this going to "effect" the arboretum. I love that place but this has got to be some kinda joke. The current building in this spot is literally 3 stories, did they yell at the nuns living there? This is why boston has no housing.
If only the USA tracks matched their trains. In theory, we could actually have true bullet train speed all over #massachusetts & new england...but we need separated tracks and investing in new rail. Can't use the old stuff, ain't gonna work for true high speed rail. NYC ride is bumpy as hell #boston
beautiful day at #boston parade of sails! Well done Boston a fun event with lots to do and see. Perfect day for it too
#boston lets up our splash pad game. Brooklines parks for splash pads & playgrounds are honestly better than many of ours. This bit of interactivity, that allows for more than just water shooting out is an easy, but very fun addition from my observations. Kids love it! Most have b-rooms too!
#boston #massachusetts as our climate continues to rise in temperature liters of Massachusetts in Boston need to start taking action that will help slow & reverse climate damage. Cars, height limits, density limits, no protected bikes, no sidewalks, no trains...this is slowly cooking us alive
wtf! 158 parking spaces!! Why the hell do we keep putting in parking garages. We dont' have the roads for it, we don't need them, build a city that is moving AWAY from cars, don't add more! I'd veto this damn thing specifically because of this. Plus it should be at least 10 - 20 stories
Haymarket Boston public market bathroom is literally locked and needs a code to enter...how is this a public market bathroom let alone locked during the world cup @wutrain.bsky.social . Can we get someone to keep this unlocked during the world cup at least?
Over at the brewery complex this morning in #boston Jamaica plain. Cars inevitably just don't even care about one another let bicycles or pedestrians. Prime parking job by this person. Small lot here too.
This person actually trimmed their bush and thought taking up half the sidewalk was cool. Like...these are small changes that the city could make to help vunerable populations be safer...hold people accountable, hold neighbors accountable, hold friends accountable.
This sidewalk is literally half taken by a bush that this person has let grow out over the sidewalk. This other one is another example.
As a parent with little kids that holds their hand when they're walking down the sidewalk...its frustrating and disappointing that the city doesn't actually hold its citizens accountable for blocking sidewalks. Like...we're all in this together, but ppl think this is just ok? Come on now.
Bicycles going up the side getting to the front of stop lights is one thing but when did the police stop caring about motorcycles doing it? Or running red lights, stop signs, riding on sidewalks or bike lanes? Literally against the law for motorcycles to split lanes or cut up bicycle lanes.
Some nice progress at white stadium. More steal structure going up and looks like we got some elevator shafts being put up!
Good start to helping homeowners make a difference, but we need to be able to use our property to build up. Many properties in #boston have enough space for a smaller triple decker. 900sqft, single stair, 3 story building could be built right behind many existing triple deckers. Example attached.
When you're at a red light and you noticed thats a bike lane not a parking area....with signs saying literally no parking but cars don't car because it's not enforced #boston
man - Whitman MA invented the Chocolate chip cookie and all they have left is a stupid plaque cause the building tollhouse was founded in burned down...how in the world would you not build an entire attraction for that in that town & bring tourism...you invented the best cookie ever! Cookie town USA
Want to read more about the facts, science & data behind getting rid of parking requirements? I've done a unbiased fact based deep dive into it that can be read here. The fact & science is beyond clear that removing parking is a massive economic & QOL boost! www.trainsbikesbus.com/too-short-to...
Look at all that sweet BPS stuff! A sports medicine and strength and conditioning room and storage! Hurdles, soccer stuff, javelins, jump mats.... honestly feels like were doing something great at #whitestadium for our kids and generations to come!
Makes sense. Looks uninviting, dark, bland hotel lobby. Tough there isn't much housing in that area. Hopefully wus plan to bring housing downtown can help shift the vibes. Loved the designs in uk I visited. Felt warm and inviting
This diagram for example is a common one i see around the USA. Is it similar in Germany? Like the width of exterior wall, the insulation width / type, the layering, and in general, are walls on the interior usually insulated as well out of curiosity?
Good news everyone! The drain under the bridge is finally cleared! Only took 2 years 😂 but seriously glad they're working through the backlog. Seems they're closing out more recently over at 311
Looks like concrete being poured! Excited to see progress being made each day. Man this is gonna be fun when this is all done! Proud of Boston for doing something actually great!
#boston isn't doing enough or going far enough fast enough to actually make real change or makeup for the failures of the last 100 years with housing, transit, or energy. My newest research goes in depth on how to correct that & the history that caused it. www.trainsbikesbus.com/too-short-to...
What are these cut ins? Are these parking? Cause that street honestly shouldn't have parking on it, just doesn't need or require it. Also can't tell are these actually protected lanes? Looks like paint to me, which i'm hoping these are elevated to sidewalk level protection
I've been working on a few different bits of research. This is one of them. Electrification, insulation, upgrading of triple deckers in #boston and the benefits it would bring to the city & the template it would provide for the state. #massachusetts www.trainsbikesbus.com/boston-full-...
