Courtney Newburry, the couple’s attorney, told me she believes her clients were victims of a heinous hate crime. “I believe the facts will show that this attack was targeted [...] and the direct result of the dangerous & harmful rhetoric that demonizes & dehumanizes trans people."
CW: images of violence/injuries Aurora and Shae gave me permission to share these images taken after anti-trans provocateurs allegedly attacked them outside a women's room in Bossier Parish, Louisiana.
“I’m more angry at the response of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office than I am at the people who beat us up,” Aurora Rush said. “They further victimized me [...] It’s an egregious miscarriage of justice.”
One local lawmaker said the anti-trans bathroom rule, proposed not long after Shae and Aurora's alleged attack, was introduced at the behest of the sheriff.
Despite her "F" gender marker, it appears Aurora was booked into the men's jail, searched by a male guard, & initially logged under a male name that never even belonged to her, period. It appears they mistakenly called her by the name of one of her alleged attackers.
“a song about my neighbor who keeps cussing out my boyfriend for being trans”
BREAKING: The morning of the Track & Field State Championship, CIF quietly & suddenly announced its trans-exclusionary policy will continue. Cis girls will get a consolation spot in events w/ a trans girl, apparently targeting AB Hernandez. This could violate CA law & CIF's own bylaws. Story TK.
While other hospitals saw administrative subpoenas over youth GAC, those were for civil cases. Langone’s subpoena indicates a dire new escalation: a criminal investigation. GAC providers + others could face jail time. (Photo via @christopherstreet.bsky.social)
To reiterate, the tip indicates a potential DIAG rally OUTSIDE the PES meeting. There is ZERO indication that PES supports DIAG or their views. In fact, PES is a vocal supporter of evidence-based, affirming care for trans people.
DIAG is currently waging a campaign to get Dems to support Trump's anti-trans Executive Order 14187. The EO promotes bans on GAC for people under 19 and laws that empower legal harassment of trans-affirming providers. It describes life-saving doctors as a "stain on our nation's history.
DIAG's team includes TERF activists with decades of experience, referring to TGD youth as the "pernicious cult of 'transgender.'" Others boast the "gender ideology" conspiracy myth created by far-right, anti-LGBT religious zealots (see link). www.hrw.org/news/2018/12...
DIAG uses outright hateful language to describe transgender people, referring to trans women as "men" invading women's sports. It also promotes harmful myths/warped misinfo — like the idea that being transgender is caused by autism or social contagion.
Second: DIAG received modest funds from the Charles & Mary Crossed Foundation, with the explicit intention that DIAG would use it for "pro-life public education."
Not a lot is known about the origins of the nascent group, but here's what I can say. I found two (very modest) donors to DIAG. First: the Santa Fe Boys Fund, which also donated to AYAGDOS as well as Genspect (an SPLC-designated hate group). www.erininthemorning.com/p/the-same-d...
TIP FROM A READER: DIAG, a group that self-identifies as "Democrat" but espouses conservative gender ideology, may be planning to to proselytize outside the Pediatric Endocrine Society (PES) Annual Meeting in San Francisco, April 30-May 3, which is a major medical conference. (A THREAD)
One trans masc Missourian, who would be forced into the women’s restroom under these laws: How would you feel about seeing me follow your little girl into the women’s room?
Timothy Faber, who earlier in the night argued against summer camp disaster preparedness laws (post-Camp Mystic tragedy) on religious freedom grounds also arguing in favor of the anti-trans bills.
ICYMI: Turning Point USA is a breeding ground for young far-right extremism, with some comparing it to a modern day Hitler Youth. www.newsweek.com/maga-pastor-...
As per the DOE: The History Rocks! initiative is part of the federal collab w/ America 250 Civics Education Coalition, a national partnership with a number of far right hate groups, extremist groups, and Christian fundamentalist orgs. america250civics.com
COLTS NECK, NEW JERSEY: Sec. of Ed. Linda McMahon, plus extremist groups like Charlie Kirk's TPUSA and Moms for Liberty, are kicking off a countrywide "educational" (indoctrination) with for an in-school/daytime assembly at a local middle school. [a thread] www.nj.com/education/20...
Ryan deleted the post shortly thereafter, but I was able to retrieve that screenshot from Google search metadata as pictured above. There are also other posts about it still up from Ryan, replying to other people who commented on the now-deleted posts.
It's suuuuper blurry so take with a heavy grain of salt, but here's what I *think* the screenshot says this.
This AM, Ryan posted: "The long-awaited UK puberty blocker clinical trial protocol is out. It will be a randomized controlled trial comparing immediate vs delayed-by-one-year start of puberty blockers among 226 gender-incongruent youth." This was accompanied by what looks like a screenshot of a doc:
My latest for Erin in the Morning about USAF's alleged discrimination against a trans athlete. I don't want this detail to be lost in the noise. This is where we are at as a society.
Orgs like the American College of Pediatrics (a pseudoscientific hate group) are using the Charlie Kirk assassination to further anti-trans hate re: “gender ideology.” Kirk + ACP is arguably responsible for untold levels of violence against marginalized communities via stochastic terrorism.
panelists on the "religious liberty commission" speak out—most are christian/catholics against lgbtq inclusion & demand stronger opt-out laws. one panelist, who is Muslim, also spoke abt suppression of the anti-genocide activism of pro-Palestine students. commission completely ignored that part. 😬
Rep. Terry Wilson said he "felt threatened" by a trans woman "staring" at him at a Texas redistricting hearing. He tried to expel her from the building & called her "unruly" for testifying during the designated public comment period. Full credit @MamaMephistopheles on IG
Jay Richards of the Heritage Foundation, the architects of Project 2025: "In some way I feel l am reaping what others have sowed years ago. This was a very tough issue initially and it felt like there was absolutely no way to win." But, he says, times have changed on the transgender issue.
