SURPRISINGLY, despite being very Miranda shaped, the Akira is ACTUALLY a Constitution. It’s subtle, but that little paunch with the deflector dish TECHNICALLY serves as a very small, very integrated secondary hull
The Cardenas and Sagan classes? Arguably, Constitutions since they have distinct secondary hulls coming from their saucers The Nimitz though? Miranda
The NX-01? Starts as a Miranda and then becomes a Constitution The Nebula? Looks like a Miranda, but has a secondary hull so is actually a Constitution The Oberth? Constitution without the neck
The Walker class? Miranda The Shepherd? Literally an upside down Walker The California class? Very clearly a Miranda The Constellation class? A Miranda with FOUR nacelles
But not all ships fall under this Constitution umbrella. Wrath of Khan gave us the Reliant and the Miranda class. Still a saucer and at least two nacelles on struts, but NO secondary hull distinct from the saucer This one small difference was a HUGE changeup in Starfleet design
You can see this with most hero ships we’ve gotten through the years. From the Excelsior and the Galaxy, all the way to the Sovereign and Intrepid when starfleet finally realized necks were a structural weakness
