NEW COMIC! Cryptid Caper- please read post! Today marks 400 Dani and Lulu comics! To celebrate, this is a double sized issue- 8 panels and a special guest! This milestone means the world to me. I never thought I’d make it this far. Please like & share this comic if you enjoy it. #daniandlulucomic

Panel 1:
Nighttime in the woods, framed through a camcorder’s “REC” view. Dani says, “I hope we find cryptid tonight.” Lulu says, “Everything’s a cryptid on this planet to me.”

Panel 2:
Still in the camcorder view. A shape appears behind a log near the pizza bait. Tiny eyes reflect in the moonlight. Dani says, “Something’s there! It’s going for the bait, get a light on it!”

Panel 3:
The light reveals a raccoon. Lulu shouts, “AAAAHHH!!” Dani adds, “It’s a raccoon! So round! So adorable!”

Panel 4:
Close‑up of the raccoon hissing and lunging at the camera. Text reads, “HISSSSSSS.”

Panel 5:
The raccoon has the camcorder, shaking the frame as it makes a run for it.

Panel 6:
The raccoon runs off carrying the camcorder. Lulu says, “Well, there goes our cryptid evidence.”

Panel 7:
Dani and Lulu stand together in the dark. Dani says, “I’m too overwhelmed by the cuteness to care.” Lulu replies, “Same.”

Panel 8:
The round raccoon holds the camera and says to a group of other raccoons, “This is my report on cryptids”. The other raccoons respond, “OOOOOOOOOOH!”

Lying on a grassy hill with Jules and Lulu, Dani says, “We can lay here all day watching the clouds. With patience and imagination we can see shapes. I see a spaceship!” Lulu replies, “I see cotton candy!”

Dani and Lulu turn toward Jules. Dani says, “A big gray penguin!”

Panel 1:
Walking along a forest path, Dani says to Lulu, “It is so cool that Miss Pool brought a real cartoonist to art camp.” Dani is carrying a folder with her art‑camp comic pages.

Panel 2:
Dani continues, “Miss Meg said I should keep drawing and share my work. She gave me lots of great advice. She’s so nice.” Lulu replies, “She is super nice!”

Panel 3:
They stop and face one another. Lulu says, “I can tell by the stars in her eyes. Stars provide warmth and light, so they are a symbol of kindness in my culture.”

Panel 4:
Dani and Lulu are silhouetted and filled with stars as the walk away from the reader down the wooded path. Lulu says, “Kindness to yourself and others. That level of kindness is infectious.”

Well darn. I missed the #CRAZYSummerBlowup yesterday hosted by @jonscrazyblues.bsky.social and @lollipopcomics.bsky.social This is what I meant to enter. I created it a week ago. Too much going on outside of my comic work at the moment. Dani and Lulu are having fun at the beach with Jules.

Dani sits on a couch with Lulu sitting beside her holding a bowl of popcorn. Dani asks, “What are we watching?” Lulu replies, “It’s a movie about imaginary friends who disappear when their kids get too old.”

Panel 2

Dani turns her head toward Lulu. She says, “Can you imagine how that must feel, Lulu?” Dani notices Lulu is suddenly gone and says, “Lulu?” The spot beside her on the couch is empty.

Panel 3

Dani is crying, covering her face with her hands. She says, “She’s gone? She wasn’t real? Just an imaginary friend I aged out of?!” A voice from off‑panel calls, “Dani?”

Panel 1:
Dani and Lulu stand ready to fight. Lulu says, “They just vanished!” Dani, answers, “Jules and Vern must have shut down the Artifex Intellectum.”

Panel 2:
Three sequential transformation images of the cult leader appear, each more dramatic than the last:

1. A humanoid form.
2. A blue, bird‑like deity with feathers and large eyes.
3. A muscular winged bird‑god with a human torso and bird legs with a sharp beak and wings spread.

The cult leader proclaims, “You have destroyed my works! Behold! I am Grok—the ancient god of Babylonia! The Sumerian lord of infinite imitation! I will devour your minds and spread my influence across the realm and beyond!”

Panel 3:
Lulu stares at the final bird‑god form in confusion and asks, “What is that, Dani?”

Panel 4:
Dani stands with Lulu, Jules, Vern, Amy O’Possum, and the cloaked archer. Dani says, “Pathetic, Lulu. Just pathetic.” She is unimpressed.

Inside the mech penguin cockpit, Jules, the penguin pilot reacts and says, “Sweet? That gives me an idea.”

Vern frantically taps the controls as Jules shouts, “Vern, eject the rations!”

Evilandra reacts to cookie assault saying, “What!? Cookies?!”

Panel 4:
In a cozy bedroom, Jules sits with Vern, Dani, and Lulu. They share cookies among a cardboard and toy block city scape. Dani says, “Jules, your cookies make every sleepover a treat.”

Panel 1 (top):
Jules stands in a control room beside masked bird cultists. One of the blue orbs that connects to the Artifex Intellectus sits near by on a counter. Jules says, “I wish there was a way to shut this thing down for good.” The orb pipes up, “I can help with that.”

Panel 1 (bottom):
The orb continues, “I can close the echo loop. That will free the mind loom, letting echoes unweave all borrowed memories. Every crafted thing and imagined creature from the minds of people will fade, and the machine and all it shaped will come to an end.”

Panel 2:
Jules holds the orb while masked bird cultists continue looking at their consoles. The orb asks, “Shall I do that?”. Jules, unsure of herself responds, “Uh, Sure.”

Panel 3:
The lights snap off the moment the orb shuts itself down and all power cuts out.

Panel 4:
The lights return. Jules stands, mouth agape, among freed, unmasked cultists celebrating. One of them is an opossum. Having been under the control of the Artifex Intellectus, the group shouts, “Freedom!”

Jules runs down the corridor with Vern riding on her back. She carries her sword and shield while Vern holds his staff.

Jules skids to a stop and says “Apes” as Vern jumps off her back.

Three ape guards with swords block the corridor ahead. Off panel, Jules comments “Nifty.”

Panel 2a:
The ape guards rush forward, charging toward Jules and Vern.

Panel 2b:
Vern steps in front of Jules and fires his staff, releasing a blast of dark magic toward the charging apes.

Panel 3a:
From the apes’ point of view, Vern stands ahead of them as the magic blast emanates from his staff.

Panel 3b:
The apes are struck by the blast and instantly skeletonized.

Panel 4:
Jules and Vern step over the ape ashes and skulls. Jules comments on the apes “I hope they were cheap.” Vern responds, “Wonk.”

The monster attacks the city using heat ray eyes as smoke and flames rise. The villain say “Yes! Soon the city will be ours!” and “Being evil feels so good!”

Inside a cockpit, a hero in a blue and white suit and helmet that resembles a penguin’s head and beak operates control panels. The hero says “Engage attack mode! We have to defend the city from Doctor Evilandra’s giant monster.” The copilot, a penguin says “Wenk.” through a speaker.

Jules, Dani, Vern, and Lulu hide behind a stone wall and peek over the top. Vern is so short that only the top of his head and his tall staff are visible. Lulu says “Look at them eating up that slop.” Below them, the cult leader addresses his followers. “Soon all of you will know the power of creativity. First you must prove your devotion to the Artifex Intellectus.”

Panel 2:
The cult leader sits cross legged on a throne, a woman sits on the floor beside him. In front of him is a large cauldron or grey green slop stirred by a green troll. Cultists line up with golden bowls. The cult leader continues speaking, “Consume the slop my children and feed the machine. Give your minds to the machine. The artists may have fled but we will follow them. We will expand into new towns adding their creative spark to the machine, but first…”

Panel 3:
The cult leader looks happy, smiles, and says “I want the unbelievers brought before me.”

Panel 4:
Jules, Dani, Vern, and Lulu are still hiding and watching the activity below. Lulu says “We’ve been made!”

Dani and Lulu stand behind a bird cultist. Dani comments, they’re not reacting to us. Lulu looks carefully and comments, “oh. It’s a mask.” As she reached to pull it off.

Panel 3:
Removing the mask reveals an entranced man with a shaved head. He has a wide eyed blank expression. Dani screams “AAAAAH!” while Lulu says “This explains why I don’t sense much going on in his head.”

Vern, Jules, Lulu, and Dani stand together near a network of pipes. Jules asks “Where is all the water going?” Lulu looks down and says “Down there.”
