A serendipitous set of posts....it's been half term this week at Hampton Court Palace and my team have been demonstrating and discussing all things laundry. From soap making, through washing, to slicking and starching
What better way to spend a hot and humid Saturday than getting new ink....that was poor planning, was a bit warm in the studio. Can't wait to see how it looks when it heals.

Spent today mostly avoiding the piles of admin and paperwork to play about with a sous vide circulator to see if it had applications for mixing resins for a smells based project but without burning them...looks promising

Though according to the images I took, or rather didn't, the soup tureens weren't the game changer I'd hoped for, as I have no other images....lots of this fish bowl though!

Not what I was expecting to have been asked to order when I came in to work today!
And with that...Christmas cookery at Hampton Court was over! All put back in the box. More public facing cookery from May, but loads of work between now and then
No progress on the mermaid today...too cold in the kitchens for bare hands and delicate painting 😟 Perhaps that's why the original confectionery was situated above the pastry department and its large ovens. Still, more time later in the year to finish her off
By the end of the day today, most of the colour except face, body and background has been applied. 2 days left to finish, or not. I'll find out when I'm in next on Sunday
I take a day off for New Year, and the team makes a great leap forward with the marchpane mermaid...now with silver leaf. Next step, colour!
