Severe baking urge resulted in homemade brownies and honey cornbread. Busy Society day. Mix of program things and support. Weather was shit but walked 5k anyway. Feeling off. Unreasonably so. If that’s true tomorrow will try to ground myself with select friends over opened to about this.
Struggled a bit with energy for planning dinners today vs. my multicolor and cartoon approach. Too much reading of the news. But I DID paint a decent Calimport guard, so I’ve got that going for me. And a happy cup of Diet Dr Pepper Cherry. #DND #D&D #Mini #FacesInThings
Trying to have a chill weekend since I’m not feeling 100% and largely succeeding! Mrs. T and Goose joined in a lazy Sunday. Still got a decent amount done. Work is busy! Two more bios on my list now and the installation will be next year at the WHC soft open. For now: A lot of moving targets!
I’m struggling. The US has become a flipping torture chamber for intellectuals. I want to help my fellow countrymen and I’ve spent a lot of energy ELI5ing everything I can for almost two decades now. At great psychological cost including my deeply racist family. I’m tired. So fucking tired.
It's sad how deeply gripped by the Tavern League (and its embedded drinking culture) Wisconsin is. Their (largely Republican) puppets are a huge part of why WI is the drunkest state in the country by a wide margin. Early shutdowns on alcohol sales at stores, pushed for reduced DUI penalties, etc
They also lobby towns and cities to cut off alcohol sales as early as they can (9pm in cities) to benefit their members. They also fought against changing the drinking age, fought to try to reduce penalties for underage drinking: They are a vile organization. “Drunkest counties” thanks to them:
From Inktober 2019, my cartoon-y attempt at the Eye of Sauron! I need to get back into the habit of drawing a little every day and I say this a more often than I actually try to get back into the habit. The world is just the teensiest bit exhausting (and on fire) so it's hard.
Spent a chunk of Saturday afternoon at the library then 4 hours at an arcade to give Mrs. T some introvert time. She got more as we had a troupe photo shoot for the 1st time in like 7-8 years. Today was chores we didn’t do yesterday (most of them) and a trip to Noble Knight for specific minis.
Another Saturday, another menu but this one is short since it’s off to Northern WI on Friday. Which is good cuz with Veggie McConnell leaving the gates of Hell open awaiting his formal death: It’s hot as Hades this week. Heat indexes routinely above 100. Tuesdays is about 130. Go away, summer!
The Wisconsin Historical Society is having a historical desserts event tomorrow internally so I made one of the first chocolate brownie recipes ever, Fannie Merritt Farmer’s chocolate brownie recipe from the 1906 version of her cookbook. For one of the first chocolate brownie recipes: It’s good.
My brain is all over the place today and even with medication I’m having trouble getting all the way tired. There is just so much that’s broken right now and so many people are struggling while the bad guys seem to be winning with almost no resistance. Not sure how we get things back to normal…
Such a beautiful site, I was sad to cut things short but I didn’t want to tour it in a storm. Well worth a visit, it’s expansive and separated into national villages that were real buildings by immigrants from all across Europe. Don’t worry! There is a tram — you don’t need to walk it all. #OWW
Busy day! Set off for Old World Wisconsin for the Welcome Center ribbon cutting and 50th anniversary celebration. Got a lot of sun, then left a couple hours earlier than planned because of severe storms (but I made background footage!) Early start on the menu cuz I’m on a productive streak. Whew!
Cleaned my sleeping zone. I age up tomorrow and wanted to. Work is hard: I am not a hard leader, why I’m glad my thoughts got solid airing. I am, however, vehement about the things I do. It’s why I am where I am. The Bob-Omb is unrelated but my nightlight and I need to sort where it lives.
Lovely birthday celebration with family today! I introduced two new people to Portillo’s, to boot, and had some fun Jackbox time before some unwinding. A mundane week, food wise, with a heat wave coming I opted for easier fare. Enjoy this photo of Goose “T Rexxing” (as we call it) #CatsOfBluesky

With the sickness last week I was roughly 2 for 7 for planned meals but the bright side? Minimal menu redesign for this week! The order shifted around a bit and there are a couple of birthday celebrating days so I redrew the board (now that I have energy, the ability to breathe, etc) #WeeklyPlan
Made the tough decision to stay home to avoid talking and make sure I don’t miss any work this week. Worked up a Rube Goldberg machine for keeping the sinuses and throat humidified overnight (pictured without the two fans) It didn’t eliminate all the coughing and choking but severely curtailed it.
The comment was "Hi Andy, wanna play?" to a spooky child picture in /r/pics, for the context I took it out of. So I figured he deserved an equally creepy Woody (out of the context of the child being spooky, but going off the name "Andy" and it being a kid. Also it occurs to me this is creepier:
Trump frequently confuses reality and reality TV. Clearly he thought he was on The Biggest Loser. (Unfortunately however big he loses, America loses more)
Naturally I woke up at 11 mostly awake. That’s what sleepy pills are for! This post is now a feline appreciation post: Both of them have been super affectionate this week (which has been a godsend — the world is insane which is not great for the insane) #CatsOfBluesky #CatNurse #Goose #Anathema
Doing a bit better but cancelled my Undermountain group tonight to be on the safe side and I’m very glad I did. Aside from being sick still I’ve also had a bad mental health day. Going to bed early. Tomorrow will be better. It has to be. Anyway enjoy these memes as I drift off to @rifftrax.com
And so many distractions to paint over one thing: Donald Trump raped children.
Zero sleep overnight Still have a chance at a few hours but between my throat, my snout, my chest, and my “charming little felines” I’m not sure how that’s going to go This illness is also super dehydrating so I’ve had to keep up with water Thankfully that new water bottle exists (and is huge)
Water was a few hours overdue but did come back. Went to bed at a reasonable time. Fell asleep at a reasonable time. Woke up an unreasonable number of times between plague things and staying hydrated to mitigate plague things. Exhausted but this is my usual WFH day at least. God luck out there!
What a week. Two power outages, one 18.5h long. 3 in 10 days. Water will be out for 4 hours for hydrant updates. Internet was out for a half an hour this morning. I was going to be remote only but hacked up both lungs a couple hours later. Now I’m taking the day. But not either flu or COVID?
