"America's favorite baseball history podcast."™ We stan Don Stanhouse, Jay Johnstone, Moe Drabowsky & Sabrina the Teenage Witch. If you like real stirrups, baseball cards & pop culture you'll probably dig us.
Am I doing this right? This is a close to 'that other "sport"' as I get.
Rewatching the 1986 World Series. Halfway through Game 2. Boggs (RIP) defense so far has been unbelievable. Forgot how many hits/runs he took away in this series. Hendu & Dewey also, nothing drops in CF/RF. Vin & Garagiola calling the game & so many calls that would've been overturned by challenges.
On the heels of finding out PCA doesn't believe Babe Ruth actually existed (the reasoning is even stupider than the statement if possible), here's PCA doing a very Ruthian thing. Getting thrown at twice, didn't charge, just hit a piss-missle on the next pitch.
Wildest brawl I've seen in a while. Probably for a stupid of a reason like getting made about a bunt in the 6th inning. I love baseball but man, it's so stupid sometime.
I want to travel around and just go to every Bark in the Park game with my dogs. 2 of my top 3 favorite things. If I don't include the wife she'll never let this happen!
Starting Lineup Talking Baseball is that one thing like the GI Joe aircraft carrier, that I never got and wanted SOOOOO bad. Is it one of those things I should buy as an adult just because I can? (I already know the answer BTW, it to buy both of them?)
If anybody started their day better than I did mine, well, you couldn't have. We can't wait to share our conversation with @nlbmuseumkc.bsky.social prez Bob Hendrick in an upcoming episode. Mule Stuttles and Biz Makey content incoming!
Just FYI, I looked it up, they still sell the Alex Cole model
Not even sure what some of those words mean, but this is the nicest thing anybody has called me in a very long time.
Good old #29, Rickey Henderson, doing Rickey Henderson things even in his MLB debut. Today in 1979. Even a feet-first slide into first. It was a rough plane landing that convinced him to start sliding headfirst. Besides my wife, Rickey is the only person I think about every single day. I miss him.
I long ago turned off the Mets game for mental health reasons. But here's the John Kruk clip he was talking about from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The likeness is spot on. Spot on! And yes, I do have all of these on hand just for such an occasion. Please share!
Remember the day the San Diego Dads became fathers? This is the kind of gender reveal I can get behind. Delivered by an armored car, hatched on home plate & worn by a very hairy Greek man.
1924 Negro League WS. On my shortlist of games I would like to go back in time to be able to witness in person. Man, what would the history books look like (baseball & otherwise). Happy Juneteenth to everybody, even those who pretend it doesn't exist & are actively trying to send us back there.
Legit thought I would never get a win on the new 'Daily' version of this. Said so on stream, then proceeded to do this on my first attempt today. The Mets are even winning (currently). Might be a sign to buy a lottery ticket. Great work @ducknestgames.bsky.social . Review of Diceball coming soon!
🚨New Episode🚨 Baseball Reference's own @adarowski.bsky.social joins us this week to talk about Julio Franco. Batting stance, snakes & 4000 hits - it's a one-stop listen for all things Julio. bit.ly/4vdf9jY
1937 NL MVP voting. How was it this close? The Cubs almost won the pennant, but I don't think managing pitchers or framing were really taken into consideration then (sarcasm). Ducky almost doubled every offensive counting stat (triple crown!). Legit, I would like to know how? Politics?
Pre-Kiké, Enrique. I hear he submitted this to the Rockettes but never heard back. The Rockies did show interest though
Alex, or Ken, I'll take 'The easiest question ever asked on Jeopardy, ever, like by a mile, seriously, could it be easier, like are we even trying anymore, really, I remember when this show used to be hard' for $800, please.
Tried this Mets cola from Kirin. It tasted like flat diet Coke. Still, more enjoyable than watching a Mets game this year.
Both Mickey Mantle & Willie Mays were banned from baseball in the 1980's for working as greeters at casinos. A long way from today's game & betting, yeah? But you've gotta make a dime somehow, so here's The Mick & Say Hey teaming up with Blue Bonnet margarine. Seems like a natural fit?
Good news, since I still know every single word from Stone Cold Rhymin'. Even if he is an Angels fan
Barry Jones is: A- Wondering why somebody wants his autograph. B- Trying to remember how to spell Barry Jones. C- Is hiding a Conehead-like dome under that huge pillbox hat and hoping nobody notices.
Why baseball rules. Francis Xavier Pfeffer is a big leaguer, so is his brother Jeff. So what do they call Francis? Big Jeff ofcourse. Why @baseball-reference.com rules. Does this guy Francis, have a nickname? Nope.
Say what you want about AI, but has it definitely has nailed baseball
